Opening Day Team Announcement #6:
The 2023 and 2024 Mid Atlantic runners up are a title contender in every tournament they enter and with the re-addition of Cam Farro for the 2025 MAW season, the Longballs figure to play deep into the weekend this May.
The Ridley Park Longballs finished in 2nd place in MAW for the second year in a row. Although they missed out on the NWLAT for the first time in years, the core of Drecher/Bingnear/Boas had a solid top 16 finish at the WCT in October.
The Blue Jays dominated the always ultra-competitive Ridley Park Wiffleball League in 2024. The Jays' core of Farro, Liberio, and Collins also led the Blueballs to a solid return season in MAW & were the only team to beat the Juggs, ERL & Longballs.
HIGHLIGHT: In a tournament filled with great catches, Gus Skibbe's (Cardinals) homerun robbing grab versus Fuego Saturday evening stands out above the rest.
Gus went up & over the fence to make the one-handed run saving catch for the Cardinals, in a game they would go onto win.
PITCHING REEL: Brendan Boas made his debut for the Longballs at Wiffle Wars, pitching up a no-decision versus the Yaks in extra innings and a picking up win over the Waves. The big right-hander allowed three home runs but otherwise acquitted himself very well.
Here are the preliminary round brackets as drawn last night on YouTube! The four 3-0/2-1 teams from each bracket advance to the quarterfinals at (all elimination round games will be played at Shi).
Game time/fields to be communicated in the captains email.
HIGHLIGHT: Tommy Loftus had a pair of game winning hits for the Longballs on Saturday. First his 2-run home run was the difference in his team's opener versus the New School Risers. Later in the day, his walk-off triple versus the Stompers sent the Longballs into the semi-finals.
