Some seasonal decorations from our group and those from @RoxburyLab@IAndreuNano !
Their decorating skills far surpass mine (but yes, that’s me on the bat!)
Hub Grantee Spotlight 💡 @URIEngineering has been awarded a grant to conduct a proof-of-concept study on synthetic materials for drug delivery, aiming to streamline evaluation processes & potentially reduce reliance on traditional animal testing. 🔬
Thanks to @RILifeSciHub for supporting some of our work creating biomimetic hydrogels and investigating how nanotherapeutics transport in cell-laden networks!
ICYMI ‼️ The Hub recently awarded grants to 14 organizations to fuel research and workforce development in RI's life sciences sector. Stay tuned to learn more about how these grantees are driving innovation and growth in our state! 🔍🔬🧬
Just in time for fall, some of our slimy, drippy, some might even say spooky gels featured on the cover of @softmatter!
Highlight our work by @Elnaz_NM, identifying yielding and fracturing motifs in colloidal gels: https://t.co/iq8NdTGZCk
Some excellent synthetic work by our team of (not-on-twitter) graduate students and the first of hopefully many papers coming out of our Rhode Island polymers team!
📰New paper out today with @N0tAChemb0t!
We synthesized some incredibly effective rheological modifiers that gel emulsions and achieve moduli of ~1kPa at <1wt%.
These mechanics arise from bottlebrush midblocks that promote bridging and reduce looping.

We show that the rate elastic growth in these systems is related to the relative bridging fraction. Although we still can't directly quantify bridging density, this approach is one of the first experimental techniques to gain insight into bridging density in complex fluids.
When your partner goes “well I assume you got this word first” and then you have to admit that you didn’t even think of it and maybe he knows your research better than you do… 😔😔
Proud of my alma mater @cooperunion for returning to full tuition scholarships! 🎉
Because of these scholarships, students can excel inside and outside of the classroom unlike anywhere else in higher education
The first day of the semester at the Cooper Union for the Advancement of Science and Art in New York on Tuesday came with a surprise for its college seniors.
Their tuition for the year will be free. https://t.co/eCfySx2gby
Glad to see this published the same day I presented it at #ACSColloids!
We designed gels with identical linear rheology but with different interactions. They exhibit distinct nonlinear failure modes and thixotropy
Great work by @Elnaz_NM
