Three investors. Three different views on Indian IT.
1] Rajeev Thakkar
AI is not the end of Indian IT. It may create pricing pressure, but it also creates new demand.
He has been consistently buying IT stocks across funds.
2] Samir Arora
Bearish on traditional IT. He believes companies should have innovated more after years of strong cash flows.
He currently has no exposure to IT stocks across his funds.
3] Shankar Sharma
Says much of the criticism is unfair.
Indian IT companies were built to provide services, not build the next AI model.
But he's not positive on the sector going forward.
Interesting times ahead for Indian IT. 😎
i took a 45-minute uber ride home from the airport last night after a brutal, three-day business trip.
i was completely emotionally and physically drained, and my social battery was at absolute zero.
when i got into the car, the driver.. an older guy named kabir.. didn't say the usual "how was your flight?" or turn on the radio.
instead, he just handed me a small, laminated piece of paper attached to the back of his headrest.
it was a literal "ride menu."
it said:
1. *the silent ride* (total quiet, no pressure to talk).
2. *the therapist ride* (if you need to vent about your day, i am listening).
3. *the tourist ride* (i will tell you cool facts about the city).
4. *the radio ride* (we just listen to old jazz and coast).
i smiled, pointed to number 1, and whispered, "silent ride, please. thank you."
he gave me a warm nod in the rearview mirror, adjusted the AC, and drove the entire 45 minutes in absolute, beautiful silence.
it was the most peaceful, therapeutic boundary i’ve experienced all year. i felt my entire nervous system finally reset.
when he dropped me off, i gave him a massive tip and told him, "that menu is a genius business idea. you must get amazing reviews."
He looked back at me and said, "i didn't make the menu to get better tips, dear.
my daughter has severe social anxiety, and she told me that the hardest part of her day is navigating small talk with strangers when her brain is tired.
she told me it feels like running a marathon.
i made the card so that anyone who gets into my car can feel completely safe dropping the mask for a little while."
i walked into my apartment and just sat on my suitcase.
we live in a world that is constantly screaming at us to perform, to network, to be "on," and to over-communicate.
but sometimes, the deepest form of love and respect you can show another human being is just creating a small, safe pocket of silence for them to rest in.
pay attention to the people who give you permission to be quiet. they are rare.
@BksNitinGadkari saheb! parivahan website isn’t working for renewal of DL. help please. trying since 3 days. brokers rampaging plight of citizens.

Last year Buffett wrote his final annual letter as CEO of Berkshire Hathaway. His final thoughts was not about investing but life. Sharing edited excerpts:
One perhaps self serving observation. I'm happy to say I feel better about the second half of my life than the first. My advice: Don't beat yourself up over past mistakes -learn at least a little from them and move on. It is never too late to improve. Get the right heroes and copy them. You can start with Tom Murphy; he was the best.
Remember Alfred Nobel, later of Nobel Prize fame, who - reportedly - read his own obituary that was mistakenly printed when his brother died and a newspaper got mixed up. He was horrified at what he read and realized he should change his behavior.
Don't count on a newsroom mix-up: Decide what you would like your obituary to say and live the life to deserve it.
Greatness does not come about through accumulating great amounts of money, great amounts of publicity or great power in government.
When you help someone in any of thousands of ways, you help the world. Kindness is costless but also priceless. Whether you are religious or not, it's hard to beat The Golden Rule as a guide to behavior.
I write this as one who has been thoughtless countless times and made many mistakes but also became very lucky in learning from some wonderful friends how to behave better (still a long way from perfect, however). Keep in mind that the cleaning lady is as much a human being as the Chairman.
WB lost it when Congress went out in 1977.
Congress ' liberal values supported the liberal Calcutta of the yore: happening city, great nightlife, cosmo crowd of Anglos, Chinese, Brits, Jews, Parsis, classy Bongs.
It was considered the most swinging city in Asia back then. I experienced it aplenty back then. Specially Park Street, it's bars, Restuarants, night clubs ( Blue Fox, Moulin Rouge, Sky Room, Mags, et al)
After that... Downhill. And shall continue
@HMWSSBOnline 7-1-2 F consumer number 062407254.

Now a days, I rarely take names.
But I believe Anna Hazare and India Against Corruption ( IAC) created a strong impression that corruption is going out of the country while we continue to remain what and where we are.
Anna Hazare and IAC actually mislead India. They just triggered strong emotions on hopeful Indians. Nothing more.
they can’t - the markets. when the market is just 2 companies which essentially are the government of south korea.
ah, but we are trying to clone that system of 2 companies
S. Korea market is up +60% YTD despite $63 bn. FII outflows.
India market down -6% with just ~$23bn FII selling.
So domestic money (SIP) offsetting FIIs =
strength in Korea
weakness in India
The math is not mathing.
Maybe flows don’t drive markets as much as we think.
Something else do.
PS. Yes, I know S.Korea is all about 2 stocks. But the logical question remains.
Mukesh Ambani takes zero salary from Reliance.
But the promoter family received around ₹3,600 Cr in dividends.
On salary, the tax could go above 39%.
Even on dividends, the effective tax is still around 36%.
So what's the real benefit of dividends?
If there is one group in India I truly respect and admire, it is the Bajaj Group. They will deliver on this too.
+ Very R&D driven: go read about their Bajaj Pulsar DTSi & related innovations. Core auto tech
And yes, I like their outspoken-ness. Been a fan of the late old man!
MEMORY: 21st May 1991, a day I will never forget. I was covering the general elections in steaming Vidarbha for @timesofindia and had reported on a Rajiv Gandhi rally where the mood suggested both he and the Congress were on the comeback trail.
Back in Mumbai after an exhausting train journey from Nagpur, I put the phone off the hook (this was pre-mobile India!) and went to sleep. Next morning, the screaming headline stunned me: Rajiv Gandhi assassinated in Sriperumbudur.
I still remember my editor Darryl D’Monte yelling at me: “How could you switch off the phone? We wanted to send you to the spot to report !” Since that day, I’ve never switched my phone off.
I met Rajiv ji only once: he was in the opposition at the time. What stayed with me was his warmth towards a young reporter: no airs, no hostility, just an easy smile and gentle manner. And yes, a willingness to answer all our questions! It was an informal press gathering at the CCI organised by the late Murli Deora. There was an innate DECENCY about him that was striking.
History remembers leaders in many ways. But sometimes, nearly 35 years later, I still wonder how differently India may have evolved had that one tragic night never happened. 🙏
Remembering #RajivGandhi today, a leader and former Prime Minister whose vision helped usher India into the modern technological age and whose faith in India’s youth and democratic institutions left a lasting imprint on the Republic.
Reacting in shock to his assassination in 1991, I had written in the @nytimes about his belief that the strength of India’s democracy lay in the bond between its leaders and its people. His commitment to a progressive and future-ready India continues to resonate across generations.
Remembering Rajiv Gandhi on the anniversary of his tragic death.
He was one of the warmest, most decent human beings to become Prime Minister of India. With him, what you saw was what you got; there was no deviousness, no subterfuge & certainly, no megalomania.
When he made mistakes he admitted it. When he felt he had been unfair to people he apologised. And despite growing up in a political family he never let the cynicism that characterises Indian politics get to him.
We often forget that he may have been the first Indian PM to have ever held a regular job, to have paid income tax and PF. This gave him an understanding of how salaried people in India lived & how the system was tilted against them. During his time taxes were lowered, the stock
market boomed and India prepared for the digital age.
He went too soon. If he had lived he would have returned to power sooner rather than later. By the time he died, he had learned from the early mistakes that his inexperience led him to make & was ideally placed to lead India into the 21 st Century and to forge a society
that had no room for divisiveness & hatred. As even his critics will concede, he was at heart a unifier, signing accords in Punjab, Assam & Mizoram, ending conflicts and building a better India.
On 19 May 2007, 19 years ago, @BSEIndia was corporatised, and all its members were issued 10,000 shares of BSE Ltd. Those 10,000 shares have grown to 6 lakh shares today. 6 lakh shares of BSE are worth Rs. 240 crs today. Lessons in patience and compounding.
fantastic idea, though indeed a fix for inflation impact on my monthly bill!
paneer for example WAS Rs.70 for 200 grams !!!!!!!!!!
pray tell how to fix paneer when it gets to Rs.200/ for 200 grams 🙃🙃
If You need only ₹ 1 lakh p.m., may be it makes sense to invest ₹ 1.50 Crores in RBI Bond @ 8.05 % p.a. interest and earn a tax free income of ₹ 12 Lakhs per annum !
Hassles free !
Why take risk, face uncertainity & pay more taxes ?
Any counter views welcome !
This is Sweety Ranjan, an Indian living in America.
In a recent video, she shared how peaceful life in America feels.
Every house has open space around it from all four sides. People maintain their own lawns, plant trees, keep swings for kids.
Even parks and forests nearby are kept extremely clean. Dustbins are placed inside forest walking areas.
Neighbourhoods are designed with schools, bus stops, parks, drainage systems, parking, and highways all properly planned.
The roads inside residential areas have speed limits and trucks are not allowed there to keep the area quiet and safe.
Nature and people live together. Deer freely move around forest areas near homes and nobody harms them.
There are mainly three types of homes in America, apartments, townhouses, and independent houses. People choose depending on their budget and lifestyle preferences. Every home comes with proper parking space.
Emergency services quickly respond, schools usually keep smaller class sizes, and basic facilities like roads, water, electricity, and gas connections are available almost everywhere.
The cleanliness, safety, greenery, and proper systems make daily life very comfortable in many parts of America.
