one of the things that genuinely is done right in Germany is care post birth. your midwife comes to your house for weeks after you have a baby. she checks the baby’s weight and general health, helps you with breastfeeding, and in my case removed my c-section dressing and checked my healing. i didn’t have to go to the pediatrician until my son was about 6 weeks old because everything was done in the comfort of my own home, and it cost me nothing extra because it was covered entirely by my public health insurance. truly how it should be done everywhere.
