@JeremyDBond @CarlaMacumber @craigyen I'm wondering the same thing. Why does it seem parents feel such pressure to homeschool all of a sudden? Not wanting kids to miss out on learning or get behind? I'd rather give lots of time to read, play, enjoy being together.
A2: I think for many teachers it is overwhelming because they suddenly are being forced to learn how to use multiple new technologies, zoom, screencasts, etc. Not really an issue for me as I'm homeschooling, but definitely feel for those struggling! #nt2t
Rachel from Michigan, currently homeschooling my own kids, first time joining a twitterchat! Hardest part for us has been having our library closed! #nt2t
and the technology is only important inasmuch as it allows teachers to be more effective and efficient. I find this idea freeing! No guilt if I am teaching well without using tech. But when I can use it to make things better, great! #DU508
A4: I thought Krista Moroder addressed this question really well! Basically she says that what "good teaching" looks like hasn't changed since the explosion of tech in schools, and good teachers shouldn't care about technology! The teaching is what's important...#DU508
A3: This graphic honestly reminds me of how incredibly frustrating learning to use new tech can be, and how frustrating computer problems are! But learning anything new takes effort & patience. Maybe you don’t need to be an expert, but just open to learning. #DU508
A2: Brin (founder of Google) said, "Certainly if you had all the world’s information directly attached to your brain, or an artificial brain that was smarter than your brain, you’d be better off.” Unsettling? Yes! #DU508 https://t.co/9CHjTgz2YM
A1: Most intriguing idea... that technology can’t take the place of good teaching and a good teacher. It can make teaching more efficient and effective but nothing can replace a great teacher! #DU508
It is important for #bcba and #rbt to remember that time is of the essence in #behavioralintervention. We really should not waste our learners time with rigid procedures/assessments that are not needed. Especially when you can get better effects using #progressiveaba
Not really ed related, but I'm reminded of my sister-in-law's mom (amazing lady!) who started playing online games with her teen grandsons. She saw what they were interested in, and educated herself on it and joined in! So awesome. Making screen time shared social time connecting
Couros: As the world becomes more “digital,” it is crucial we become more “human.” What a great piece. I'm inspired by his suggestions to make screen time shared time. #DU508 https://t.co/itZzKonkW5
Jacobsen: "the results, officials said, suggest students don’t 'develop sophisticated digital skills' just because they grow up as digital natives." Good teaching is required! #DU508 https://t.co/QFqn8M2ESX
@sarah_wensink I read this one too. "In the computer and information literacy section, females outscored males on average and in most of the countries. But in computational thinking, males consistently scored higher than females." Pondering how curriculum changes can help with changing this
I find it overwhelming to keep up with all the new tech and social media... and realizing in a few short years my own kids will be living in this world! 😬
Morgetron: “Communication is more creative today than it ever has been.” How true! There are so many different ways to connect today thanks to technology. Related to this, “Social media is a form of literacy. If you don’t learn it, you will become, in a way, illiterate.” #DU508
