Trevor Phillips explains why Labour didn't want a national inquiry into Pakistani rape gangs.
'I suspect the reason why is because much of this took place in areas that are run by local Labour councils'
Spot on. Labour can't be trusted
They're complicit
A man so vacuous, flaccid & devoid of anything remotely resembling a moral, ethical or political compass, that he inspires nothing but broiling, molten contempt.
“Yesterday, upon the stair
I met a man who wasn’t there.
He wasn’t there again today,
I wish, I wish he’d go away.”
'Do you realise now that we have a government prepared to employ expensive legal advice so they can act against the interests of the local people, and for the interests of migrants?' asks @NickFerrariLBC, after the Epping ruling.
@SurLiott9@MartinKnight_ I seem to remember as a teenager seeing Stan play in a league game between Leicester & Stoke City which Leicester won 2-1, I’m pretty sure it was 1964 and at the time it was reported that he was 50 years old.
Peter Hitchens says Keir Starmer's government reminds him of the last days of the Soviet Union.
"A time of complete delusion. They had a fairly elaborate welfare state. They had a health service. They had heavy subsidies on all kinds of things."

Nigel Farage has today announced Reform will "park its tanks on Labour's lawn". Here's what I think will happen in British politics between today & 2029
----
Reform will now inherit the 'post-Brexit realignment' that initially propelled Boris Johnson & the Tories into the Red Wall but which the Tories squandered by lying to the British people about mass immigration
By 'realignment', I mean that Reform will now become the main home for a cross-class coalition of working-class and middle-class Brits who will put their intense concerns about what is happening to the country ahead of their once tribal loyalties to Labour or the Tories
This realignment commenced in the 2000s, began to find its expression through UKIP in the early 2010s, powered the Brexit vote in 2016, continued to reshape the map of British politics by propelling the Tories into previously uncharted territory between 2017 and 2020, but has since been in abeyance --a state of temporary suspension, with millions of voters disillusioned with how the Tories sold them out and then failing to rally around Labour's 'loveless landslide' in 2024.
Reform is about to re-activate this realignment and bring it back into the forefront of British politics.
Many of these voters feel they were taken for granted by Tony Blair and New Labour, were then taken for a ride by Boris Johnson and the Tories, and are now being pushed to the back of the queue in favour of immigrants and minorities by 'two-tier' Keir Starmer and Labour.
They have a specific set of concerns. They are utterly sick and tired of a soaring cost-of-living crisis, which is at least partly caused by the elite obsession with Net Zero, which is going to become a much more political issue between today and 2029, as we saw this week.
They are completely fed-up with mass uncontrolled legal immigration which is taking more out of the economy than it's putting in, is making it impossible for young British people and families to find a home, is making our country unrecognisable, and is happening despite the fact nobody in this country ever voted for it.
They are furious about rampant illegal migration and the apparent inability of anybody in Westminster and the British state to control our borders, with the foreigners who are flagrantly breaking our laws being prioritised over the law-abiding majority who uphold our laws.
And from Southport to West Yorkshire police, from the NHS to the Sentencing Council, the forgotten majority are now also waking up to the fact we have deeply politicised, two-tier and also tax-payer funded institutions in this country that want to prioritise immigrants and minorities over the majority.
All of this is really powerful not just because it's bad policy but because it flies in the face of the long-held British believe in fairness, fair-play, individual liberty, and equality before the law, all of which have long been central to our political culture and national fabric.
And, as we've shown for much of the last year in our politics newsletter, all of this is now driving support for Reform, which is especially strong not just in the Tory Shires but across the Red Wall, which now looks set to become the epicentre of this political revolution, not only at local and by-elections but in Wales next year.
Of the 100 most Reform-friendly seats (as again we've shown in our newsletter with the use of census and 2024 election data) two-thirds are held by Labour; of the top 50, no less than 33 are held by Labour MPs.
By targeting these areas, by inheriting the realignment, as I explain in detail below, Reform will not only pick up where the Tories failed and make life extremely difficult for the Uniparty but will also start pulling together a much bigger and more durable coalition of support than many people realise, as we can already see in the polls.
It will be a coalition that is also bigger and broader than anything Farage himself has mobilised before, anchored in one core point --people want their country back.
The revolt is coming 👇👇👇
Labour has shelved what limited inquiries it was prepared to mount into the industrial scale child abuse by Pakistani-heritage rape gangs over several decades.
It is fitting that this shameful surrender was made by vacuous ministerial show pony Jess Phillips, who announced it as Parliament was heading for Easter recess and the media’s eyes were on Trump tariffs. A good day to bury bad news if ever there was one.
Why this abject abandoning of a Labour government’s responsibilities? Simple. Pure party self-interest.
First, any investigation would merely confirm that Labour local authorities looked the other way for years and failed to prevent the most heinous abuse. Phillips admitted the change of course was in response to local authority lobbying.
Second, it is too toxic for Labour. Any investigation would confirm that the evil perpetrators in the rape/grooming gangs were overwhelmingly Muslims of Asian origin, a vital part of Labour’s electoral base with which it is already in trouble for not being sufficiently robust over Gaza.
So best draw a veil over it all, even at the expense of vulnerable, abused young women never getting proper justice or closure.
Unforgivable.
Labour announced a statement on child sexual abuse on short notice to make sure the House of Commons was mostly empty.
@Katie_Lam_MP turned up despite little notice given and gave an empassioned speech calling for a grooming gang inquiry. Her voice nearly breaking at the end as she described the horific abuse these girls were subjected to.
Utterly devastated.
EJ has left us.
Formula One won’t see the likes of Eddie ever again where a guy with a love for racing can hustle his way into the sport and end up winning races.
More important than race wins though, he won hearts. I will never forget how his face would always light up whenever he saw a Jordan GP jacket, flag or cap… as we traveled the world together years after the team had been sold.
His greatest achievements were Mikki, Zoe, Kyle and Zak. His incredible 4 kids who share his spirit. His wife Marie is one of the strongest, most wonderful women I have ever met.
The 4 years we spent together hosting F1 on the BBC were greatest of my career. Wing-walking, scooter riding, car driving madness that I know he loved deeply.
His incredible spirit and love of life lives on in me, and my children who were lucky enough to meet him and hear all about him.
Eddie lit up a room whenever he entered it. That is a lesson for us all - be the light in the room.
I was lucky enough to share one, final, cherished meal with him and his boys a few months ago. It was special. We talked about me doing one last interview with him. Sadly that will never happen.
As I left his departing words were ‘I love you brother’.
I love you. Brother.
One of the 3 Amigos is gone. The world seems a little less bright this morning.
Farewell friend. Play the spoons up there for me ❤️❤️❤️
