The South African Consulate in The Bahamas operates under the accreditation of the South African High Commission in Kingston, Jamaica.

If you are a South African citizen who is a temporary or permanent resident of any of the following countries, please note that certain consular services are provided by the High Commission in Kingston:

- Antigua and Barbuda
- Barbados
- Belize
- Cayman Islands
- Dominica
- Grenada
- Guyana
- Haiti
- St. Kitts and Nevis
- St. Lucia
- St. Vincent and the Grenadines
- Suriname
- The Bahamas
- Trinidad & Tobago
- Turks and Caicos Islands

For residents of the Dominican Republic, consular matters are handled by the South African Embassy in Havana, Cuba.

For the following consular services, please contact the Consular Section in Kingston directly at [email protected]

- Passport renewal
- Child passports
- Replacement of lost, stolen, or damaged passports
- Emergency travel documents
- Re-issuing of ID documents
- Unabridged birth certificates
- Abridged birth, marriage, or death certificates
- Retention or resumption of South African citizenship

These services can be processed via correspondence. You do not need to travel to Kingston, Jamaica for these applications.

Travellers will not be denied entry into or departure from South Africa solely because they have not completed a declaration before arriving at a port of entry. SARS Customs officials, supported by self-service declaration terminals, will be available to assist travellers who were unable to submit their declarations before travelling.

A few weeks ago, I had the pleasure of welcoming representatives of the Bahamas Association of Land Surveyors (BALS), the Bahamas Institute of STEM Innovation (BIOSI), Civil Society Bahamas, the University of The Bahamas, Akhepran International Academy, and the Bahamas Trade Union Congress (CBTUC) to the South African Consulate in Nassau ahead of their participation in the FIG Congress 2026 in Cape Town.

Since then, the delegation has successfully travelled to South Africa, participated in the FIG Congress, and returned home with a number of significant achievements.

I congratulate the entire delegation on their successful participation and look forward to seeing these relationships continue to grow in the years ahead.
