Only two days to go! As we iron our best clothes before Thursday’s glittering awards ceremony at the Scottish Parliament, we should once more thank all our sponsors – without them we would not have such a great celebration of excellence in woodlands and forests across Scotland.
We’ve been working with @scotforestry to develop a shortlist of 28 productive tree species that will help diversify woodland, strengthen resilience to pests, diseases, and climate change, and guide future investment and management decisions. 💪🌳

Over the next few weeks, Forest Research scientists will be visiting farms across England as part of the FR&D A10 Expanding Agroforestry project.
🔬 We’ll be measuring how much carbon is stored in hedgerows, fruit trees and soils, helping us understand how agroforestry can contribute to Net Zero and inform future agri-environment schemes.
📅 Fieldwork will run until Friday 14 November, across four participating farms. In some locations, researchers will be carefully removing small, 1m-wide sections of hedgerow to analyse carbon content. All work will be carried out sensitively and with landowner consent.
