@markovurnek_@stevekrouse Great baseline. More powerful than most Android devices (like stuff you find in a car or moms old tablet) less powerful that a student-budget laptop
@stevekrouse My favorite perf test machine is the MacBook 12” — represents a low-end device. One of the weakest laptops Apple has made. Can’t really run vscode, for example (which burns a forest every time you type a character)
@DanielcHooper The fact that it listens to mouse clicks is nerve wrecking. Sometimes it needs my attention and I click on the terminal window to give it focus and accidentally answer something
for those wondering, here's how I made this vid
- first I make the images with chatgpt, like the starting frames... @OpenAI is pretty much the best with images with real people, keeping the same character and style in different angles, and following prompts
- then, i use those frames on @GeminiApp video thingy... I give it a script of what the characters should say. I had to make a video per line… and trying different directing prompts for the tone, because voices tend to default to a chirpy tone and wanted it to be more deadpan (oh, yeah, you should have a script before starting anything lol... used @NotionHQ for that)
- for the video of me, I actually recorded myself first, so I used a "video-to-video" model using @runwayml's Aleph 2... plus the chatgpt image as style reference (screenshot related)
- then, I put everything together in capcut... I've been using it for editing vids more than adobe premiere, lately
- capcut has an “ai enhancer” thingy, for the parts where I do zooms, so it wouldn’t look as pixelated
- @screenstudio for all screen recording
- @figma for all the flying logos and end screen... I used their animation tool to animate the logos, it's cool
and... that's it
Last year I had the idea to scan San Francisco's famous Grace Cathedral in very high quality, both inside and out, and build an interactive experience that anyone can use. I'm excited to finally be able to share it with all of you!
Should designers publicly share killed or speculative work?
Earlier this week, I got a bit spicy with a tweet. This medium is not optimized for depth, but I think this question needs it. So, I felt compelled to expand and clarify my thinking.
