Managing Exe Estuary reserves (Bowling Green, Matford, Exminster, Powderham marshes) & Labrador Bay, Ashill and n. Devon reserves + news from Aylesbeare Common
Pleased to have found a Temminck’s Stint early evening at Discovery Pool, Exminster Marshes plus singing Lesser Whitethroat from railway path @DevonBirds@RSPBExeEstuary
Few Dartford Warblers showing on Aylesbeare Common this morning but I was delighted when this one popped up close to where I was standing. Having watched it for a while it was clear that I was no where near the nest site so there was no disturbance for this bird. @RSPBExeEstuary
Maybe an interesting dilemma for @Natures_Voice at @RSPBExeEstuary#Aylesbeare Common as this Queen Wasp appears to have started nest building in the leaflet box under the welcome board. 🤔
RSPB Bowling Green Marsh, always tricky on a sunny day. 4 Spoonbill, 4 Spotted Redshank (2 coming into summer plumage) and the LB Dowitcher @RSPBExeEstuary
#SignsOfSpring Five Chiffchaffs were singing between the top of Bowling Green Road and the bird hide (#BGM@RSPBExeEstuary) and anther was singing in our hedge bordering the road near the top entrance to our upper field.
Topsham this afternoon. First 3 Sand Martins of the year at BGM plus 3 Spoonbill. Also Scaup, 2 Spotted Redshanks and 50+ Barwits close to VP plus a few Knot. And a lovely sunset from the Goatwalk @wildlife_devon@DevonBirds@RSPBExeEstuary
