In more interesting news….history back on the #colourringed and #flagged#Dunlin that was at #patchbirding for a few days in early May. Ringed in 🇳🇱 at Griend, seen in Mauritania 🇲🇷 and first UK 🇬🇧 sighting 😁
It has been an amazing 24 hours for our third 'Ultimate Shetland' group of the season with fabulous views of Red-necked Phalarope (pictured), a night trip to see Storm Petrels on Mousa and a very active Bottlenose Dolphin - still exceptionally rare in Shetland inshore waters.
Wader Awareness
Breeding Season on the Moors by Rick Simpson.
By giving these birds the space they need during breeding season, we can help species like the Golden Plover continue to thrive on our moors for generations to come.

Once again I do not have a new species of bird to share today so here's an image of a Lapwing (Vanellus vanellus) watching out for her (yesterday’s image) at RSPB Saltholme. 25/05/2026 #2026yearofbirds@teesbirds1
Sanderling numbers continue to increase on #patchbirding Mersey. c400 present this morning, this year has smashed my previous years peak counts. Stunning #waders 😍
Come in number 52….at least 4 numeric N Sanderling which I didn’t managed to read, and this OfY/m Ringo which at least was a little easier on #patchbirding Will be interesting to see where it comes from 😁 My money is on Norway…..
Plenty of beautiful Sanderling heading through the Midlands on their northerly migration at the moment.
These two were at Clifton near our home city of #Worcester this morning.
Phonescoped with a @LeicaBirding APO Televid 82 spotting scope.
