@vetzmovies Critics love to follow broader cultural trends. When the MCU was pumping out hit after hit, reviews were artificially high because the narrative was “marvel does no wrong”. Now that they’re not, the narrative is “MCU is tired and overdone” so reviews are artificially worse.

@the_Bradster007 Each row here has at least one banger and one dud imo, & the quality generally gets worse in each row which contributes to the feeling of decline. But overall, while it’s not as good as phase 3, it’s not even my least favorite phase. L&T is the only truly offensively bad one

@KeyWatkins51299 It wasn’t just a buildup to thanos, it was a build up to the threat of thanos. We knew he would be chasing infinity stones from early on, and tracking the stones as they showed up was exciting because we knew *he* was coming. That created real tension that doom doesn’t have

Black panther and Spiderman were full characters with mini-arcs in civil war. Minor characters, definitely, but more than cameos

@warpoetheretic @sethsfilmreview Absolutely. An avengers sized power vacuum being filled by multiple different teams is a direction, it’s a grounding tension for the characters and there’s so much potential. It sucks that it happened 2 movies before doomsday with absolutely no time to flesh it out

@sethsfilmreview now, you don’t have any sense of what’s happening in that universe. Characters we’ve only seen once, no sense of the relationships between characters, no clear understanding of the world we now live in - which is a problem if you want me to feel anything about “the end of it”

@sethsfilmreview The biggest mistake post endgame was limiting avengers films to end of sagas. The avengers served as a connective tissue, a gravitational force for the MCU. You understood the world, the politics of it, the status of each of the heroes, the relationships between them. But (1/2)
