There’s only a few days a year that there’s crowds. Probably cheaper and easier to put temp seating. This ain’t the 60’s people. Day after the Belmont you could probably shoot a gun off and hit no one.
Can we get some thoughts and prayers for me having to ride this ding dong on a crisp morning. I usually have an exercise Rider get the kinks out first set, but it’s just me and Enrique.
@raypaulick Ray, horse racing has more billionaires involved in it than any other sport. The fact we can’t even cobble together the capital to do streaming content like a non-power D1 sports conference is an indictment of those people.
Jockeys (@keithasm7) are built different.
Balancing on inches of steel at 40 MPH while controlling 1,200 pounds of raw power… and somehow brave enough to fight back after getting shut off on the rail to win by a nose.
Some of the toughest athletes on the planet. 🏇💪
The Puma, scratched the a.m. of the Ky. Derby due to a skin infection that caused swelling in his pastern, has returned to Gulfstream Park to prepare for the 2nd half of his 3yo campaign to kick off in the Grade 1 Haskell on 7/18. Full details shortly at https://t.co/ZPGuOsLBpA.
There doesn’t have to be something wrong with a horse to not want to run them. They’re charting this horse’s career in his best interests. As someone who’s trained horses and run them back too soon, I see where they’re coming from. Successful sports today have all changed.
@RTCCanada I am all for welfare of the horse as you know, as a founder of LongRun. Journalism ran in both, so did Seize the Grey and countless others. If there is something wrong with him, of course, don't run. I said it was terribly disappointing. As a free country, I can say that. No?
They are doing what’s best for the horse, Jennifer. Triple crown means nothing anymore. How can you criticize them when they put the welfare of the horse first?
Terribly disappointing. I get not running back in 2 weeks every day, but an exception must surely be made in this circumstance. As long as horse is healthy. It is the Triple Crown!!
Yes, this is 2026, not 1966. Never fails to surprise me when people are indignant over a trainer and owners who put their horse’s welfare above everything else.
I’m probably in the minority on this one, but I struggle to muster disappointment over Golden Tempo not going for THIS Triple Crown when the Preakness is at Laurel, the Belmont is 1-1/4M at Saratoga, and it’s probably the last time the races will ever be crammed into 5 weeks.
