Diversity in radio newsrooms has stalled.

Minority representation held at 16.6% in 2026, unchanged from last year and down from a record 21.5% two years ago. Leadership gaps also persist across roles and markets.

Radio news profitability dipped again in 2025.

Just 11.8% of stations reported a profit, while AI use surged, with 40.7% of radio news directors and general managers now using it in some capacity.
