What a brilliant project from @avonneedstrees. And happily for me, near enough to visit and enjoy as it progresses. There will be huge benefits for community and wildlife, and you can sponsor your very own @what3words patch! I’m donating £100 today.
Why don't we have more of this rather than concreting or paving over everything?
It soaks up water, has some semblance of life, but won't turn to mud with vehicle or foot-fall use
Genuinely, is there a reason? What have I missed?
At a small, enclosed site in Wales, beaver activity is resulting in an explosion of mayflies, damsel flies, bats, as well as pied and spotted flycatchers, kingfishers and amphibians.
Time to welcome them home 🏴 @NatResWales

NEW RESEARCH
Solar will "dominate" global grid by 2040s
It's already cheapest way to get electricity in many countries – incl cost of system storage
(Wind is cheapest almost everywhere else)
By 2027, solar + system storage will be cheapest everywhere except northern Europe
@RHarrabin It was also pretty predictable that the start of this El Niño would result i something like this. I would really argue that the opportunity is and has been there for a long time to report it properly. The last 6 years at the very very least.
@Conservatives@michelledonelan Will this include listening to your own scientific advisors about global warming and biodiversity collapse in the UK? Or is that in a different bucket?
Excited to be off to the @ArbAssociation 's annual amenity conference this evening to learn more about how to look after trees. I am there with @CrownTrees and the UK's only decay detection dog Sika put on a workshop tomorrow and Tuesday afternoon.. 🌳 🐶 🍄
Separately from this; I am particularly interested in how we treat young urban trees and looking forward to speaking to a few of you about how we can improve *the situation* 🌱 💀 🙈 in cities and towns over the next decade...see you there!
Spent a lot of time this year talking about #BiodiversityLoss and improving #biodiversity in #2022
Biodiversity Net Gain, aka #bng, calculated through the #biodiversitynetgain#calculator will only be a success if it is delivered with sincerity and enforced appropriately.
