It's been 6 months since Mom, fully vaccinated, died of COVID. I've grown, learned, moved forward. It's what I know she wanted of me. But it still hurts like hell. No one should have to watch a loved one slowly suffocate to death because someone else got sick & didn't stay home.

There are different levels of adulting. Mom tried to prepare me, but I didn't listen.

Yesterday, I called a salon to cancel her hair appt, set weeks ago, for today, and ordered an urn wreath. Tonight we celebrate the beautiful life force she was.

Update on Mom: O2 lvls stabilizing; weaning off full face mask to nose insert. O2 administration down to lvl 4 (v. 9 ystrdy). ❤rate more regular=AFib being controlled w/meds; discharge expected tmrw! #Relieved #LongWeek #Family1st

"Spontaneous" 8.5 hr trip to Louisiana yesterday. Mom's AFib aggrevated by COPD, admitted to hospital; sitch looked bleak when Dr said "intubation." 4 hrs into trip, Mom texts: "Go home. There's nothing you can do." 🤣 Cautiously optimistic: Mom feels a bit better, & I'm w/her.

Refinished/repurposed one of my son's playset chairs yesterday (yeah....he's 24 now). It will now serve as a whimsical plant stand.

...and when I find the other chair (currently lost in my very messy basement), I'll paint that one, too!

Began knitting this on 12/18 - as soon as the needles I ordered arrived (yarn arrived a day before them) - and finished it last night. So toasty and cozy. The recipient will love it!
