In honour of Mr Condor, we have planted a tree where he used to stand and we all had an ice cream while we had an extra play. Mr Condor used to love seeing the children happy.
This morning, we’ve been making our own paper aeroplanes, writing our fears on them and watching our them fly away. We then made a second one and tried to make it better so it would fly further away. This is linked to our class story ‘After the Fall’ where he conquered his fears.
For two weeks, we have been using Keynote to create presentations linked to ‘The Romans’. We have then been moving around the classroom to look at each other’s work and see what everyone has done. It has been lots of fun!
This morning, we have been practising time to the nearest 5 minutes using clocks and practically showing the time. We then wrote the time shown by the adult on a whiteboard.
This morning, we have been making 3D shapes with cocktail sticks and little marshmallows. We worked together to make a range of shapes and then discussed how many edges, vertices and faces there were.
This morning, we have used geoboards and elastic bands to make polygons. We had fun drawing them on a dotted paper ready for making our shape robot on Monday.
We have had an absolute treat today! The History bloke has been in and has taught us all about Romans. Mrs Beard dressed up in armour and was also treated as a slave. We have had lots and lots of fun and learnt lots of new facts and looked at loads of different artefacts.
This morning, we started writing our fact files about Joseph Coelho in pairs. We are using book creator, on the IPads, to bring our fact files to life over the next two days.
Today, we had a little treat where we got to watch an author’s event. The 2 authors talked about their new book linked to Beano and talked about why they love mischief and mayhem so much. They then created their own mischievous character and the children had a go at their own.
We have had a lovely day at Washington wetlands. We have had a chance to look at different trees, birds and habitats. We made a colour palette, went pond dipping and watched the otters and flamingos get fed. We even saw a woodpecker in the bird hide! What an amazing day!
Children have created their own torch designs for the next #inspire torch relay and they are going to be entered in a competition. I was blown away by their creativity.
Today, we have had a treat in school. We have been part of the #inspire torch relay. A torch was delivered in school and we have done activities linked to it all day. Children applied to be a torch bearer and as a result of classroom democracy a candidate was voted for.
Today, we have been using jugs to practice measuring the volume of water in different bottles. We discussed the difference between capacity and volume.
