Once Upon a Time in Tayport...
Before the road bridge crossed the Tay, Tayport was a bustling transport hub. Trains arrived at the station carrying passengers and goods, while ferries connected Fife with Dundee across the water. These were the days when the railway played a vital role in everyday life.
Join us as we travel back through the decades and rediscover the Tayport that generations once knew.

HAPPY 150th BIRTHDAY TO NEWCASTLE's
SWING BRIDGE!
• • •
Opened in June 1876, the Swing Bridge has stood at the heart of the River Tyne for a century and a half.
Built by Sir William Armstrong, it replaced earlier crossings that had served Newcastle since Roman times and became one of the great engineering wonders of the Victorian age.
From steamships and shipyards to Tommy on the Bridge and the bustling industries of the Tyne, generations of Tynesiders have crossed this iconic landmark.
Join me on a journey through the history of one of Newcastle's most famous bridges as we celebrate 150 years of the Swing Bridge.
Do you have any memories of the Swing Bridge? Let us know in the comments below.

Old Gateshead Remembered...
From the early 1900s to the 1960s - a time of shipyards, factories and bustling streets, when the River Tyne powered the town and life revolved around hard work, strong communities and local pride.
Factory whistles echoed across the river.

EAST - PART 3
Before the chains, before the supermarkets, and before many of today's bars...
These were the pubs where
generations met for a pint, a game of darts, and a good crack.
Which pub do you wish was still here today?

Step back... to the Whitley Bay our Great-Grandparents knew.
before the crowds, before the noise...
When the seaside felt like a world away.
this was a day at the coast.
Any family memories of Whitley
Bay?
