@BolimaDale Gilas biggest problem imo is that Iran and Jordan would both probably finish 5-1 (compared to Gilas probably finishing 2-4). So starting the next round, we’ll be the 5th ranked team of the group
Let’s hope that AUS and NZL sweep them, and the rest is up to Gilas - win or go home
Akatsuki Japan is by far THE BEST Asian (non-Oceania) team and Basketball program in general.
They’re so so good… Gilas and SBP, please observe and take notes
Love Justin Brownlee, but based from the past 2 games against New Zealand, It’s a sign for Gilas Pilipinas and SBP to find backup naturalized players (I know Boatwright is still pending), and do it quickly
A Complete Gilas Big Rotation of Kai Sotto, QMB, AJ Edu, and Mike Philipps will be so nice 🔥
Lots of optionalities/combinations can be used within these 4 depending on match ups.
The 3rd quarter was pivotal when Gilas Pilipinas last beat New Zealand….
Looks like the poor 3rd quarter performance is gonna cost them a winnable game vs the Tall Blacks tonight.
Gilas needs a floor general. It’s currently still Scottie Thompson, but hopefully JGDL can eventually inherit that role when the time Scottie bows out, he has the potential to do so.
China came back from down double digits to get a much needed win vs Japan;
Chinese Taipei dominating South Korea;
Philippines vs New Zealand tied at halftime.
GAME DAY 3 of the FIBA World Cup Asian Qualifiers starting off with a BANG.
Gilas Pilipinas #FIBAAsiaCup2025 Journey ends in the Quarterfinals.
A bit disappointing? Sure. It sucked that we faced Australia very early in the knockout stage, but the loss vs Chinese Taipei was the cause of that.
A lot to be learned heading to the FIBA World Cup Qualifiers
Starting with the double big lineup (Fajardo and Edu together) against a 4-out/sometimes 5-out Australia Boomers team has really cost Gilas dearly.
And they started to have momentum by going smaller with KQ in — the spacing and ball movement was better, and it’s more switchable
