The Akhil Bharatiya Adivasi Vikas Parishad (ABAVP), Manipur, strongly condemns the excessive use of force by central security personnel, who are supposed to protect citizens but have instead inflicted brutality on innocent civilians. The violent crackdown on Kuki women peacefully protesting against the proposed Peace March by the Federation of Civil Society (FOCS) on International Women’s Day is unacceptable. This ruthless attack, which left over 50 demonstrators severely injured and resulted in the tragic death of Mr. Lalgun Singsit of Keithelmanbi, is a blatant violation of human rights. Those responsible must be held fully accountable.

The government’s imposition of peace through coercion exposes its indifference to the ongoing crisis in Manipur and its deliberate neglect of the suffering of the Kuki-Zo community. The targeted violence, state-sponsored oppression, and continued atrocities against innocent civilians must come to an end.

Since May 3, 2023, the state has been divided not only by geography but also in the hearts of its people. This division cannot be mended through forced peace without addressing the root causes of the conflict. ABAVP urges the Honorable President of India to take immediate action to ensure justice for the oppressed and safeguard their right to live with dignity and freedom.
