Ridgewood cruises past Bergen Tech in N1G4 opening round - Baseball recap

Alex D’Angelo’s three hits and three runs scored powered third-seeded Ridgewood to an 11-1 victory over 14th-seeded Bergen Tech in the first round of the North 1m Group 4 Tournament in Ridgewood.
Ridgewood (20-7) scored in five of its six innings at the plate, building an early lead and pulling away late. Bergen Tech (10-17) managed just four hits and scored its only run in the sixth inning.
D’Angelo went 3-for-4 with a double and a triple, driving in one run. Gavin McCrone added two hits, including a double, and drove in two runs. Brody Perrapato went 2-for-2 and scored twice.
Garcia Reilly-Bell earned the win on the mound for Ridgewood, pitching three scoreless innings and striking out four batters. Jeremy Cohen added two innings of scoreless relief with one strikeout, and Brady Ross pitched one inning, allowing one run on one hit while striking out one.
For Bergen Tech, Joe D’Amico went 1-for-3 at the plate with a double and a RBI. Colin Montone, Dylan Huber and James Cicoria each had one hit for the Knights.
Ridgewood scored one run in the first inning, added two runs in both the third and fourth innings, then broke the game open with three runs in the fifth and three more in the sixth.
