Coppell beats Rockwall 2-1! Cowboys add to their win streak taking down a very tough Rockwall baseball team. Willie Nester (@nester_willie) finds his way back to the mound after being sidelined from an injury. Nester’s (@nester_willie) performance was outstanding throwing a complete game, giving up only 3 hits, 1 run, and 0 walks. Six Cowboys recorded hits during the contest (TJ Pompey @Tpompey_Jr, Andrew Schultz @AndrewSchultz23, Tanner Sever @SeverTanner, Tristan Davis @TristanDavis_23, Matthew Welsh @Matthewwelsh23, Matthew Williams @MattWilliams_23). Game changing momentum occurred when the Cowboys strung together several hits in the top of the 5th. Matthew Welsh (@Matthewwelsh23) and Matthew Williams (@MattWilliams_23) led off the inning with line drive singles that set up the big moment for TJ Pompey (@Tpompey_Jr) to hit a 2 RBI double that scored both to put the Cowboys on top 2-1. From here, Willie Nester (@nester_willie) kept the door closed shut to give the Cowboys an exciting victory. Go Cowboys! #paytheprice

Coppell sweeps Plano!

The Cowboys played a great series showing grit and determination to finish 2-0 in the series. Pitching was key in both games. Jake Garcia (@JakeGarcia14) picked up his first district win pitching the final 4 innings of play allowing 0 earned runs in game 1, and Bryan Raitz (@BryanRaitz) pitched a spectacular complete game shutout in game 2 striking out 12. Four Cowboys picked up multiple hits during the series, including Brodie Scott (@BrodieScott08) with 4, Zack Darkoch (@ZDarkoch) with 3, and Andrew Schultz (@AndrewSchultz23) and Matthew Williams (@MattWilliams_23) each with two.

Many exciting moments to note. In game 1, after being down 5-0, the Cowboys had a big 4-run inning where Matthew Williams (@MattWilliams_23), Zack Darkoch (@ZDarkoch), and Andrew Schultz (@AndrewSchultz23) each strung together a series of hits helping the Cowboys to start a comeback in the top of the 4th. Then in the top of the 5th, Brodie Scott (@BrodieScott08) singles to lead off the inning which eventually led to the tying run being scored with a sacrifice fly by Matthew Williams (@MattWilliams). And then in the 6th, Michael Russell (@Michael_russ15) leads off the inning with a single who was eventually scored by Brodie Scott (@BrodieScott08) putting the Cowboys up 6-5. This proved to be enough to secure the win. In game 2 in the bottom of the 6th, after a sacrifice bunt by Michael Russell (@Michael_russ15) to put a runner in scoring position, Liam Krauss (@liam44k) hits a RBI single to put the Cowboys on top 1-0. The Cowboys went on to win 3-0. Cowboys play at Rockwall tomorrow and back home on Tuesday for the next district series against Plano West. #paytheprice

The Cowboys wrapped up the second series of district play dropping both games to Flower Mound Marcus. @AndrewSchultz23 and @JakeG2006 teamed up in game one allowing two earned runs across seven innings. @BryanRaitz pitched another complete game for the Cowboys in game two striking out six. @Tpompey_Jr and @MattWilliams_23 picked up two hits each for the series. @AndrewSchultz23, @Matthew_Orr_11, and @ZDarkoch each recorded one hit. Cowboys move to 8-8-1 overall and 1-3 in district. Plano High School is up next on Tuesday @ Plano and Friday @ Coppell. #paytheprice

Cowboys get off to a good start and split with Hebron for the first series of district play. It was a battle of the pitchers with many intense moments. Andrew Schultz (@AndrewSchultz23) and Bryan Raitz (@BryanRaitz) both pitched complete games for the Cowboys, walking only one batter each across 13 total innings pitched. Bryan Raitz (@BryanRaitz) pitched an incredible game Friday evening picking up his first district win. He allowed only two hits and no runs while striking out six. Matthew Williams (@MattWilliams_23) picked up two hits across the two game series and five others got on the board with one hit each [Zack Darkoch (@ZDarkoch), Matthew Orr (@Matthew_Orr_11), Tanner Sever (@SeverTanner), TJ Pompey (@Tpompey_Jr), and Brodie Scott]. A game changing moment occurred in game two when Matthew Orr (@Matthew_Orr_11) hit a huge RBI triple in the bottom of the second inning to put the Cowboys on top 1-0 (see video). Given the spectacular pitching performance by Bryan Raitz (@BryanRaitz), this proved to be enough to secure the win. An exciting opening series for the Cowboys! Flower Mound Marcus is up next. #paytheprice
