The AI slowdown debate is getting interesting.

I lean toward Dario Amodei and Sam Altman on pacing frontier AI, mainly because of liability + IP.

Alex Karp made a great point: companies spend years building proprietary data, systems and research that create their edge.

As AI gets deeper into businesses, who is responsible if that edge gets exposed or compromised?

Frontier labs should be liable for unsafe products, but they can’t be responsible for every bad use of the tool.

At the same time, an extreme slowdown makes no sense. AI is a global race, and open models are closing the gap fast.

So does this strengthen the case for much heavier government involvement in frontier AI?? Maybe...
