I love life in Chicago because I can meet new people, attend events, and feel energized by city life.

I’m currently interning at a nonprofit while searching for a UI/UX Design internship or full-time role.

Honestly, it hasn’t been easy. I’m struggling, and there are days when I question myself.

But I’m not the same shy person who arrived here three years ago.

No matter how this journey goes, I believe I’ll grow a lot this year. I’ll keep learning, creating, and moving forward. 🇯🇵🇺🇸

Three years ago, I came to the U.S. alone from Kyoto, Japan for college.

I had no family or friends here. My English wasn’t very good, and I was incredibly shy. But I knew that if I wanted to grow, I had to step outside my comfort zone.

Studying in Indiana was a huge culture shock. For the first time, I realized you can’t really go anywhere without a car.

In college, I explored computer animation, 3D modeling, AR, coding, and more. I worked as a research assistant and student employee, and also interned for a company in Tokyo.

It wasn’t until my final year that I decided to pursue UI/UX design. It felt a little late, but it immediately felt right. Since then, I’ve built 4 case studies for my portfolio.

After graduation, I could have returned to Japan. But I wanted to challenge myself a little longer.

So I moved to downtown Chicago.
