When we talk about antibiotics resistance, this is what we are talking about. Let me tell you something about anti-microbial resistance and why it’s also your business:

You don’t have to be the one to abuse antibiotics leading to resistant microbial organisms. You can contract resistant species through unprotected sex.

Like someone who constantly abuse antibiotics, develops a resistant strain, you don’t abuse antibiotics, you have unprotected sex, you can contract a resistant organism. This is not the most bothersome aspect.

The most bothersome aspect is, you can be exposed to antimicrobial agents through food without you even knowing. Yes, you can be exposed through the food you eat, like the poultry and livestock. How?

Some farmers abuse antibiotics, they use it as growth promoters in their poultry feed, etc. some don’t even observe withdrawal period. What is withdrawal period?

Withdrawal period is the mandatory waiting period a farmer has to wait after using antibiotics on their poultry, before the can sell it out or slaughter it for consumption, this ensures drug residues clear from the meat.

When farmers don’t observe this and sell their poultry, and people consume them, they are exposed to tiny amounts of antibiotics (the drug residues), over a period of time, they may develop resistant species.

This was my undergraduate project topic, and after working in the lab and seeing the results, checking resistance, it was really bothersome. We need serious antibiotics regulation not just for humans, also in poultry, in animals.

The Nigeria government has sentenced Sunday Jackson from the North to d3ath.

His crime is because he is a Christian and defended himself.

Sunday was attacked in his farm by Fulani militant. Of course, they always attack either in the farm or in the Church.

They tried to klll Sunday, but Sunday overpowered them and defended himself.

The government arrested him and sentenced him to d3ath.

Assuming the Jihadists have kllled him, nobody would be arrested. The mvrderers would have been roaming the streets freely like those that burnt Deborah.

But because Sunday is a Christian, the government deprived him his constitutional right to defend Himself.

The Nigeria government must release Sunday Jackson unconditionally.
