"Those last four weeks of her life when she was in the hospice, I think it's odd to say, but were some of the happiest of her life."
Sir Michael Palin reflects on the care his wife received in a hospice, as he calls for more support for hospices in the budget.

@adamgordon1978 @CarlyWelch_42 Having been brought up in Oldham I can confirm 1) muffin is indeed the correct term, and 2) causes confusion everywhere else when you ask for one 🤣

Closing a case on Adastra today and had 13 (thirteen) pop up boxes to click through. Also all symptoms codes have been removed, so now have to code a diagnosis even where non exists. Definitely not at all frustrating #TeamGP
@CizCG@ChorltonFPGP Yep, same up here. In this case they couldn’t afford the pharmacy charge & so rang 111, saw me and got the prescription for free.
So can add duplication of work into the mix as well!
I saw someone today who was worried they wouldn’t be able to get appt with their GP. So they went online, booked a virtual appt (£50), prescribed meds (£10 processing fee). Went to pharmacy to collect meds (charged £160). NHS list price approx £2.50.
Please fund GP properly.
Delighted to see this published - an epic piece of work!

Around half of blood tests (48.8%) did not lead to a change in patient management or reassurance, and 6.2% of tests led to a new diagnosis or confirmation of diagnosis in this study using @GPPACT data https://t.co/Vz4sjbjThA

@miken231 I work in UTC/OOH and it constantly frustrates that important diagnoses on PCR/SCR are sandwiched between …
Pharmacy managed repeat prescription
Failed encounter
10 year CVD risk….. etc etc…
The Primary Care Clinicians PhD programme is now open for applications.

A year ago, I started following how the cost of living crisis was playing out at an Oldham school, checking in with the fantastic @NewmanRC_Head every few weeks. I ended up learning a lot about the British state, and its education system, to boot.
