Minor-attracted persons are afraid to seek help & fear being reported directly. this fear is justified. Professionals don’t know what to do with their request for help & are inclined to report these even if there is no immediate risk of sexual abuse @R_Lievesley@CraigHarper19
Really proud of this new paper on the psychology of sex doll ownership with @R_Lievesley, now published in The Journal of Sex Research. The paper is available open-access using the link below.

Really pleased that my paper with Rhia Lapworth (a former student on our MSc Forensic Psychology @PsychologyNTU) exploring experiences of women with sexual attractions to children has been accepted for publication in Archives of Sexual Behavior!

Excited to work with @DrGTenbergen & @CraigHarper19 to advance our understanding of the use of fictional sexual materials among minor-attracted persons. This should really help us to work towards emotional wellbeing in this group, and prevent CSA.

There is a clear a need for awareness-raising in primary healthcare settings to improve professionals’ knowledge, comfort, and confidence in working with disclosures of sexual attractions to children in order to develop responsive and effective support services for MAPs.
New preprint!
With Helen Swaby, @CraigHarper19, and @ellieirenew we have surveyed non-specialist healthcare professionals about their experiences of and views about working with patients who disclose sexual attractions to children.

@PsychologyNTU
Hearing about a patient having or masturbating to sexual thoughts about children did not affect professional feelings and reporting decisions. However, working with children did change these outcomes, even in the absence of offending intentions or behaviours.
⚠️ New preprint ⚠️
Working with @R_Lievesley and Katie Wanless (our past MSc Forensic Psychology student @PsychologyNTU@NTUSocSciences) we have produced what we believe to be the first ever psychological analysis of individuals who own sex dolls.
