The act of tugging a Muslim girl’s hijab is a grave assault on her dignity, personal liberty and the constitutionally guaranteed freedom of faith.

When such an act is attributed to an individual occupying the highest executive office , it represents a deeply disturbing erosion of constitutional morality and a blatant disregard for the respect owed to women.

This is a wrong and unfortunate act and totally unacceptable and cannot be brushed aside. CM Nitish Kumar must publicly tender an unconditional apology.

Rather than standing with democratically elected representatives who were subjected to unjust restrictions and high-handedness today,Sajad Lone has once again stooped to petty blame games, shamelessly calling a deeply symbolic act by Hon’ble Chief Minister Omar Abdullah Sahib “scripted.”

You talk of resignation and political morality — but where was this conscience in 2016, when the entire Kashmir Valley was engulfed in flames, thousands were blinded by pellets and lives were shattered.
Did you resign then? No — you were sitting comfortably in power, as a minister under the BJP quota.

If you truly care about the dignity of the people, their emotions and public welfare, then lead by example — resign first and then we’ll believe you mean what you say. Until then, it’s just hollow grandstanding from someone desperately clinging to relevance and trying to stay in Delhi’s good books.

Before preaching morality, look within, Jenab. The truth is, your politics revolves around staying relevant and holding on to power — no matter the cost, no matter the compromise.

Your party talks of dignity, but if you truly understood the dignity of the people or the sacrifice of the martyrs of July 13, you would have never indulged in such petty and insensitive politics. It’s nothing more than desperate theatrics to stay relevant and appease your patrons in Delhi.

For a moment I was impressed. But now that you have given a ball by ball commentary of your so called struggle in reaching the Martyrs Graveyard — I will bet my life. It was all scripted.

I will still tell you. That the institution of Chief Minister is much bigger than the person of the incumbent Chief Minister. Please save this institution. Please step down. I will be the first person to follow you.

That a security person will try to grapple or stop a Chief Minister is a humiliation for all of us. Don’t set a precedence which others will have to follow. A precedence of humiliation.

These choreographed events are too predictable. Stop insulting the intelligence of common Kashmiri. There are two King’s parties in Kashmir. One gets to have a dramatic acces a day before 13 July and the second one gets access a day after 13 July. Truly magical.

Those hailing the Bungus Road as a “historic achievement” are either willfully ignorant or deliberately distorting facts. A road that cuts through dense forests and avoids the entire population isn’t development—it’s deception paved in concrete.
The truth is, Bungus tourism was envisioned and institutionalized by Sher-e-Kashmir Sheikh Mohammad Abdullah Sahib, who not only placed it on the state tourism map but launched real groundwork to uplift this forgotten region.
Under his leadership, the Rajwar Development Board was formed, headed by Gh. Mohammad Shah (Former Minister). A functional road via Rajwar—serving actual, inhabited areas—was sanctioned and crores were invested. Tourist huts were constructed up to Upper Wadder and economic packages were rolled out to support tourism, horticulture and irrigation.
In 2008–09, the Omar Abdullah-led government formalized the Bungus Development Authority, continuing this vision with structure and scale. It was inclusive, strategic and grounded in equity.
Then came your version of “development”—a road that snakes through forests, far removed from villages, serving no local population, delivering no economic value.
Who is this road for? Wild animals or wild ambitions? Rajwar was cut off—deliberately. This is not inclusion—it’s isolation.
You should have taken a hard lesson from the recent Baisaran Pahalgam tragedy. This so-called “historic” Bungus Road is not only disconnected from the local population—it’s carved through an isolated, forested zone alarmingly close to the border, making it inherently unsafe for tourists.
There is no economic uplift and no local engagement. What you call development is nothing more than a political showpiece, a vanity corridor built for headlines—not for people.
Worse, this so-called “achievement” came at a brutal ecological cost: Thousands of trees were felled without a single step toward reforestation, devastating forest cover and disturbing local ecology.
And for what? The people of Rajwar were excluded entirely. Where did all that timber go? Who profited from that revenue? Were locals even consulted?
These aren’t questions—they are charges.
A case has already been filed before the National Green Tribunal by a social activist and environmentalist, seeking accountability for this reckless environmental destruction and we hope those responsible for this environmental crime are held accountable soon.
But your damage didn’t end there.
You demolished the fully functional 1989 inaugurated, 100 beded District Hospital building—not because it was unsafe, but because the inauguration stone bore someone else’s name.
Meanwhile, you left untouched the older structure already declared unsafe by engineers.
The result? Bed shortages, overcrowding, and suffering patients—all born of your insecurity, not necessity.
And what did you do to Handwara’s pride—North Kashmir’s largest sports stadium, spread over 100 kanals, with an indoor stadium?
Built after years of struggle, long litigation and 11 crore in sanctioned funds, even the Hon’ble High Court acknowledged its importance in steering youth away from drugs and crime.
Yet, you chose to demolish it—not due to need but because the foundation stone bore someone else’s name.
Despite vast available land, you deliberately replaced a public asset with a so-called Patanjali Park (Biotech Park).
This wasn’t development—it was political vengeance disguised as progress and a brutal betrayal of Handwara’s future. You didn’t expand the legacy—you annihilated it.
While true leaders build on foundations, you bulldoze them out of pettiness. While others protect public assets, you plunder them for optics.
This isn’t leadership. This is calculated destruction—of institutions, of community welfare and of collective dreams.
History won’t call you a builder. It will mark you forever as the man who ruined what others built.
