So proud of all of our students from last week and today.

80% of our pupils' GCSEs were graded 9-4. Pupils did particularly well in the Sciences, where the average grade for Physics was 8, with Biology & Chemistry having an average grade of 7. In Business Studies, French, Music and Geography nearly a third of all GCSEs were graded 9-7.

Year 12 Biology students have been studying the heart. For hands on learning, they dissected an animal heart to identify the four chambers, the vessels including coronary ones, the valves, and looked at the difference in muscle thickness on different sides of the heart.

Last but certainly not least, we finish our #WomenInScienceDay spotlights with Ms Rolland. Ms Rolland has been interested in science from an early age, stemming from her curiosity of how & why things work. Her favourite part of teaching is when a pupil says "oh - now I get it!"

Chemistry & Biology were Mrs Macfarlane's favourite subjects in school. Her pursuit of biology allowed her to appreciate the flora and wildlife in Australia. After years of teaching, Mrs Macfarlane says that Biology is a subject where the more you know, the less you understand!

Mrs Potter is next in our #WomenInScience Spotlight! Mrs Potter is our Director of Teaching & Learning and teaches GCSE and A Level Chemistry. Her Female Science Hero is Tu Youyou, winner of the Nobel Prize in Physiology or Medicine in 2015.

Mrs Andrews is one of our fantastic Science Technicians. Mrs Andrews' favourite subject at school was Science, particularly Biology. It was her love of horses as a teenager and her interest in veterinary medicine which led her to pursue a career in the sciences. #WomenInScience
