RAAD رعد ⚡️ is the science payload on the Light-1 3U Cubesat (@MiniSatUAE) aiming to study TGF flashes emitted via thunderclouds from Earth's atmosphere 🌎
RAAD رعد (Rapid Acquisition Atmospheric Detector) is a science instrument developed by @NYUAbuDhabi Emirati physics students, and won the science payload proposal for the @MiniSatUAE competition held by the @uaespaceagency to study Terrestrial Gamma-Ray Flashes (TGFs) ⚡️
Mission success! Congratulations to everyone involved in the Light-1 CubeSat project 👏
The nanosatellite successfully launched into space with the help of a team from NYUAD composed of students, staff, and faculty members. Read more here ➡️ https://t.co/YPSXLXU4JP
The Light-1 CubeSat will launch into orbit from the ISS shortly. Working in close collaboration with the @uaespaceagency and Bahrain’s National Space Science Agency, a team of 32 students from NYUAD and @KhalifaUni came together to make this mission possible. Stay tuned! ⬇️ 🚀
Liftoff! SpaceX #CRS24 flight launches to ISS, carrying fresh supplies and experiments, including UAE-Bahraini 3U CubeSat that will study terrestrial gamma ray flashes once released into orbit in January
Light-1 was developed by young engineers and scientists working from labs in the UAE. The team is made up of 23 students, including nine Bahrainis and ten Emiratis from Khalifa University and NYU Abu Dhabi
The Emirati-Bahraini CubeSat Light-1, the result of the unprecedented joint collaboration between the @uaespaceagency and @nssa_bh, Khalifa University, and @NYUAbuDhabi, was launched successfully aboard @SpaceX CRS-24 flight on a Falcon 9 rocket to the International Space Station
NYUAD researchers and students worked in close collaboration with @KhalifaUni and @uaespaceagency on the UAE-Bahraini CubeSat, Light-1, which launched for the International Space Station today.
We wish the mission great success! 👏
The science instrument on board Light-1 (the RAAD Detector) was in development for years, starting with only a handful of very ambitious students. We are extremely proud of how much the team has grown since then. The contributions from everyone made the successful launch possible
The Emirati-Bahraini CubeSat Light-1, the result of the unprecedented joint collaboration of @uaespaceagency 🇦🇪 and @nssa_bh 🇧🇭 @KhalifaUni, and @NYUAbuDhabi, was launched successfully TODAY aboard @SpaceX CRS-24 flight on a Falcon 9 rocket to Int’l @Space_Station … MABROOK 🇧🇭🇦🇪 https://t.co/TZPt19n3Lx
We are pleased to announce that the #Light-1 nanosatellite successfully took off towards the International Space Station today onboard @SpaceX’s Falcon 9 rocket.
The payload team had a virtual meeting today to discuss updates on the mission and make sure people are safe while continuing to work on RAADSat remotely 🛰
Presented the updates on @RaadDetector in the Emirates Space Innovation Group Meeting today.
The picture is funny because it looks like it's saying "It always seems impossible until LOLOWA!"
