An elderly grandmother got lost in Portsmouth the other day. She was using a walking aid and wearing a T-shirt that simply said “Portsmouth Patriot.” Left-wing protesters verbally attacked her over it.
You have to be a particular kind of person to target a vulnerable grandmother like that over a slogan on her shirt.
Basic decency should not depend on whether you agree with someone’s politics. This kind of behaviour is ugly, and it says more about the people doing it than it does about her.
If the problem is a loss of compassion, humility, or any sense of something higher than politics, then yes, many of them would be better off turning toward Jesus rather than turning on a grandmother who lost her way. ✝️
