Today, March 31, commemorates the Day of #GenocideofAzerbaijanis. 106 years ago, the #Dashnak and Bolshevik armed forces committed inhumane atrocities in #Azerbaijan. Many became martyrs, and this gave rise to the establishment of our people’s national statehood. #31March1918

Armenian-Molokan gangs massacred more than 8000 residents of Shamakhi, including 4190 men, 2560 women &1277 children; survivors were expelled or escaped. After those events, #Shamakhi became a ghost town with a population of only 1700 in 1921 out of 15000 before #31MarchGenocide

During 1914–1915 #Armenian gangs killed 150,000 Azerbaijanis in Khoy, Urmia, & Salmas provinces of South #Azerbaijan & more than 200,000 civilians in Eastern Kars, Erzurum, & Ardahan. The #EthnicCleansing of Turks was aimed at creating a “Great Armenian Empire.” #31March1918

Since the 19th century, over 2,000 #Muslim settlements have been destroyed in #Iravan & #Karabakh provinces to expel #Azerbaijanis from their ancestral lands. At the beginning of the 20th century, 1 mln of 1.3 mln #Armenians living in the #Caucasus came from abroad. #31March1918

As a result of the 1826–28 Russia–Iran wars, 130k Armenians from Iran were mainly settled in the khanates of Iravan, Nakhchivan, and #Karabakh. 359 #Azerbaijani villages were destroyed, and the population was slaughtered & expelled due to settling Armenians. #31March #31March1918

Tbilisi newspapers of 1918 reported that the #RussianArmy, mainly of Armenian “cannibal gangs,” destroyed everything from Sarıkamısh to Gyumri. On Feb11, 1918, Turkish general Vehib Pasha telegraphed General Odishelidze, informing him about Armenian atrocities. #31March1918

Enver Pasha, the Military Minister of #Türkiye, sent special divisions to help Azerbaijanis during #31March1918 genocide. People met them with tears in their eyes as they were exhausted from the heinous acts of #Dashnaks. Divisions blocked #Armenians &rescued people from vandals

Azerbaijani writer M.Akhundov recalls in his memoirs, “During the #31March1918 pogroms, our millionaires appealed to #Iran for help, but they refused. Then Zeynalabdin Taghiyev appealed to #Türkiye. Enver Pasha immediately sent divisions to help Azerbaijanis.” #31MarchGenocide

The Armenian Council in Baku sent the Bolshevik armed groups, mostly made up of #Armenians, to Hajigabul,Kurdamir,Goychay,Salyan&Lankaran&intructed them to massacre #Azerbaijanis. They acted under the veil of #Bolsheviks &patronaged by Lenin &his special convoy Shaumyan. #31March
