“My buddy tried to sell his phone on Marketplace, and this guy agreed to the price. From the start, my buddy was cautious. The guy seemed hesitant at first, saying he wanted to see the phone before finalizing the deal.
My buddy suspected he would either run off with the phone or pay with fake money. Sure enough, the guy handed over counterfeit bills. As soon as my buddy felt they were fake, he immediately called 911, and the guy took off.
His hands started shaking when he realized my buddy was recording, and he ran the moment he heard the 911 call. Before the exchange, he was on the phone, likely talking to his buddies waiting outside. He even tried to act like he was talking to his “dad,” but in reality, it was his friends, ready to make a quick escape.
This is a very common scam nowadays, especially in the Mill Woods area. Please share to raise awareness.”
