@NicholasFerroni I did stand-up comedy for five years and taught 7th grade English for two; stand-up was easier. And I got to cuss on stage, which made the frustration with an unruly audience easier to bear.
During SEL today one of students asked me how losing (at a video game) could be a good thing. I asked, “What do you gain when you lose?” He said, “Experience?” I said, “Yep, and grit and resiliency and you get one step closer to winning.”
He didn’t know that I needed that too.
@CRSlearn Allow yourself time to sit and reflect on how what you’re teaching relates to YOU. Once you’ve filled your knapsack with stories from your life that relate to the lessons you’re teaching, share them with the kids! They need to see real life SEL examples.❤️
My husband recently gifted me with this black and white picture of myself pregnant with our first born. It was cool to see Jo’s face when I opened it and she realized it was the two of us. ❤️ #JanuaryJoy#14daysofjoy
The world is better because of TEACHERS!! And The Beatles, and chocolate, and books, and laughter, and hugs, and the color pink, and the word “and”, it implies a lack of limits! #14DaysOfJoy#JanuaryJoy
I like my sense of humor and my students do too. I knew I was funny before I knew anything else about myself. I also like my loyalty. I’ve got 20 year old friendships and ugly sweaters I’ll never abandon. #JanuaryJoy#14DaysofJoy
Reading is a lifelong hobby that brings me endless joy. I haven’t traveled this past year but through books I have been to France, Africa, and Alaska since quarantine started. Tonight I’m in the great Smokey Mountains with little Dolly Parton. #JanuaryJoy#14DaysofJoy
