Donald Trump's plan on homelessness is to violently force people into designated camps away from public view, a terrifying prospect to any student of history.
And he's doing it using the exact same rhetoric as homeless-hating democrats in California.
New study finds that involuntary sweeps of homeless encampments in Denver didn’t reduce crime. The study's researchers urge reconsidering this approach.

It is now clear that it is America itself which is leading genocidal war against the Palestinians. Israel is simply the instrument. All are equally guilty of grave breaches of international law and elementary decency but America is primarily at fault.

💸The Power of Giving Cash to Homeless People https://t.co/tQEExv2g6r
In this eye-opening episode, we sit down with Mark Donovan, Founder & Executive Director of The Denver Basic Income Project, to discuss a revolutionary approach to addressing homelessness: giving money directly to those in need. Mark shares how the project began in response to the economic fallout of COVID-19 and how it has since become the largest guaranteed income experiment in the U.S. focused on the homeless population.
“Cash is really powerful, it’s immediate, it’s empowering,” says Mark. He explains the transformative impact of providing direct cash assistance, debunking common myths, and highlighting the positive outcomes they’ve seen. “In the group that received $1,000 a month, homelessness dropped to zero at six months.”
Listen in as Mark talks about the data supporting this approach, the challenges faced, and the hope it brings to communities. He also discusses the need for scalable solutions and how individuals and cities can get involved in this groundbreaking initiative. This episode is a must-listen for anyone interested in innovative solutions to homelessness and economic justice.

@Nichole4D6@ABQHCH@RachelBiggsABQ
@ABQHCH was so excited to have @Rep_Stansbury stop in and say hello at our all staff meeting today. Thank you for working hard to increase access to health care and housing for our community.
Today was spent talking about healthcare in our communities!
I hosted a roundtable to talk to behavioral health providers about the effects of fentanyl they’re seeing on streets, and also had the chance to stop in and say hi to Albuquerque Health Care for the Homeless.
Sadly, formerly incarcerated people are 10x more likely to be homeless than the general public.
This makes them more likely to be arrested & incarcerated again, thanks to policies & directives like THIS that criminalize homelessness.
If the US is serious about ending the housing crisis, it will dismantle the revolving door between incarceration and homelessness.
It's time to put housing first instead of criminalizing vulnerable people for not having access to safe, stable, and affordable housing.
Today's #SCOTUS decision is inhumane and will make #homelessness worse across the nation. And the brunt of this ruling will fall on unhoused Black, Brown, and Indigenous people. Read our full statement here:

Cities are not required to arrest people for surviving in public spaces, they can choose to focus on solutions that actually work. Housing solves homelessness. https://t.co/15uUxKTx4V
We are deeply disappointed by today’s Supreme Court decision to criminalize homelessness. Read from our CEO and President @ShaunDonovanNYC: https://t.co/pM906bzx9q
Communities have a choice in how they respond to people experiencing homelessness.
Punitive measures disproportionately impact people of color, LGBTQ people, and people with disabilities - all of whom are overrepresented among people experiencing homelessness.
“Where do people experiencing homelessness go if every community decides to punish them for their homelessness?” says Diane Yentel, president of the National Low Income Housing Coalition. https://t.co/WTUSiYv7KV
"This cruel, misguided ruling will only worsen homelessness. It gives cover to elected officials who choose political expediency over real solutions by merely moving unhoused people out of public view rather than working to solve their homelessness," - @dianeyentel
This is why homelessness is continuing to go up and up. It’s also why prevention and cash aid are so critical to an overarching housing strategy. And every day that we don’t focus on building more deeply affordable permanent homes is another day that we make homelessness worse.
Key findings from #OOR24:
1️⃣ Low-wage workers can't afford rent in any U.S. state.
2️⃣ The housing wage for a modest 2-BR apt is far above the federal minimum wage.
3️⃣ Urgent need for federal investments in affordable housing.
