"delightful […] To write provocatively takes restraint, and Cleves’s style is crisp and wry.” @IrishTimes review Lustful Appetites by @RachelCleves

Grazie mille John Birdsall @EmilyContois and @DearDara for the amazing blurbs. A thousand sexy, fascinating stories available this November in the UK, February in North America 😍 #histsex#histfood
@WestJet@Kayleeemarie@WestJet won't actually fly you anywhere. They'll cancel your flights and refuse to refund you. They have no customer service, and are abusive to customers. All they care about is their private equity shareholders.
@WestJet Never having to fly @WestJet again would be reason enough not to travel anywhere. You cancel flights, have no customer service, and don't refund your customers. All you care about is your private equity shareholders.
More terrible abusive treatment from @WestJet the absolute worst airline I've ever flown. After cancelling my flight and promising me a credit card refund they gave me "travel bank" credit instead. I never want to fly you again @WestJet. You're the worst. I want my money back.
1869 article attacking the trade in photographs of notorious celebrities. "We have abolished the pillory and set up photography." #photography#celebrity
Even I may not be up to the task of recreating this historic recipe. (Calmouk=Kalmyk, a Buddhist Mongolic people from the lower Volga River. This soup encountered on an 1874 trip from Astrakhan to Orenburg.) #foodhistory
Another testimony to how wide-ranging this book is: there are easter-egg references to all of my previous books/subjects, including anti-Jacobinism, Charity Bryant, Sylvia Drake, Frank Shimer, and Norman Douglas.
Proofing my index and enjoying the range of topics in Lustful Appetites: from Saint Basil, to the Battle Creek Sanitarium, to Honoré de Balzac, to Djuna Barnes, to James Baldwin and James Beard #histsex#foodhistory
this book is pretty gay--need to check the index and make sure there are an equal number of entries under lesbian. I've got trans history in the book too, but realizing there's no index entry for bi- Better fix that!

@katebevan@WestJetPress3 Yes! @WestJet's customer service is apparently so bad that there are endless fake accounts/bots who pop up and reply to customer complaints in the hopes of compounding people's misery
@WestJet cancelled my flight home from Tokyo to Victoria over twelve hours ago and hasn't yet been in touch with any information about rescheduling. I'm stranded in Japan. They have no customer service and are impossible to reach. I will never fly them again.
In new heights of incompetence, I just got an alert from @WestJet to check into my flight. And when I checked my West Jet app it said that my flight had been cancelled a minute ago (it was cancelled at least 16 hours ago). Truly cannot fathom the depths of their failures.
I think it's hilarious that if you post about how terrible @westjet is spammers immediately respond to you but nary a word from West Jet itself! And by hilarious, I mean, I'm pulling my hair out.
@WestJet I do not understand why so many apparent West Jet customer service bots are reposting my complaints about the fact that you have stranded me in Japan and made no contact with me. Are you proud of how terrible a company you are?
Nothing like complaining about the abysmal treatment I'm getting from @WestJet and having West Jet bots like my xeets. How about you hire customer service people? You cancelled both legs of my roundtrip ticket to Japan and have cost me thousands of dollars.
