@lynchk16 2B: SIGs can file amicus curiae briefs or provide direct sponsorship. Sponsorship is providing resources & briefs persuade/inform justices their policy preferences. I want to go to UT Austin bc I like the culture & opportunities it provides. #lynchapgovtwitterchat#lynchapgovmob
@Jessica05578580 @lynchk16 2B: I agree that Congress is powerful, but I think in this case bureaucracies have more power as they are the ones who actually decide the extent of implementation of the laws Congress makes. #lynchapgovtwitterchat#lynchapgovmob
@lynchk16 2B: Iron triangles describe relationships b/w SIGs, bureaucracies, & Congress. Each link influences the other thro tactics such as lobbying, legislation, & regulations. Bureaucracies have the greatest impact as they control implementation. #lynchapgovtwitterchat#lynchapgovmob
@Richard35107947 @lynchk16 2B: I agree. I also think that they have almost a right to because they're just a group of people who have passionate goals/opinions & should therefore be able to support candidates who agree with them. #lynchapgovmob#lynchapgovtwitterchat
@lynchk16 2B Interest groups buy their influence & can donate to PACs who can directly donate to campaigns. I think they should be able to donate because they're a group who has a goal/issue in mind & should support a candidate who supports their cause #lynchapgovtwitterchat#lynchapgovmob
@geograophy @lynchk16 I agree the relationship b/w these two positions are unhealthy especially if it is a frequent occurrence, but I do also believe that it is that person's choice as to if the want to become a lobbyist/politician no matter what others may think. #lynchapgovmob#lynchapgovtwitterchat
@lynchk16 2B: It is movement where politicans become lobbyists and vice versa. The prior occupation of effective lobbyists tend to be former Congressmen. I think this movement is ethical because it is one's own choice what career one chooses to pursue. #lynchapgovmob#lynchapgovtwitterchat
@geograophy @lynchk16 I agree that there needs to be regulation and that it is not likely. I also believe and agree that it is because they provide valuable information, but also because lobbying can be considered free speech and a form of petitioning the government which are protected rights.
@lynchk16 2B: Lobbyists are activists who work for and are associated with an interest group. They try to influence and persuade political leaders to support their interests. Lobbying is somewhat well regulated as there are laws attempting to regulate, however, they are only so effective.
