@kingsleymalo My son was 2 when we first shut down. He is four now and we recently read a story that had a restaurant in it. We had to chat about what those are and what people did there as he had no schema for it at all. It's in these little moments that it hits me, Covid life is his normal.

It's unhelpful to tell a student you should have learned this last year. Or, you should already know this. Let's meet kids where they are, not where they should be.
Once upon a classroom, I thought I gave students a voice. But it's not mine to give. I cannot give what they already own.
But I can give an ear. That is mine to give.
Student voice is already there. It's not something we give. It's something we honor. And we do when we listen.
