To whiffle (1500s) is to blow this way and that without sticking to one course of action. A whiffler is someone who's evasive and/or is forever changing their mind.

[Insect Week @insectweek]

A NEW CROSS FOR CHRIST CHURCH.
Our thanks to Olu for arranging the replacement of the cross on the roof above the altar at @ChristChurchDA1. The old cross had weathered and rain was entering the roof through the gap that had been created - hence the need for a replacement.

[Rachel Kerridge @RachelKerridge4]

Wow.

From my 9 yr old: "The best part of lockdown school (keyworker provision) is that we have time to have big conversations even if they move away from the topic, and we learn so much from them. We dont have to rush back to the work." Something for us to take forward for all pupils

[Rachel Kerridge @RachelKerridge4]

I feel naive that I find this so shocking.

[Ian Wright @IanWright0]

These aren't isolated incidents!!! It's daily!! This is what I received for posting and talking about #BlackLivesMatter yesterday. The abuse started a week earlier, the taunting is terrifying. Coming back and back again.

1996.
I was 6 years old.
That’s how recent this is.
This is why we need feminism.

To those shouting 'poor kids don't usually get meal vouchers over the summer holidays'

1. They should
2. These are far from usual times
3. Why are you leaping in to argue that kids should go hungry?

[Chris Reddy FCCT @BrightLeadChris]

How have come this far in life and only just discovered these. 👇

[Susie Dent @susie_dent]

'Book' is a descendant of the 'beech'; 'paper' came from 'papyrus'; 'library' is from the Latin 'liber', 'bark', and 'true' is a sibling of 'tree', with the idea of something solid, firm, and steadfast.

I love the way language has wrapped itself around trees.

[Susie Dent @susie_dent]

This is the obscure, tongue-tricky discovery of my day, noted because it really fills a gap:

'cacoethes' [kak-o-ee-thees] is the desperate urge to do something very inadvisable.

[Rachel Kerridge @RachelKerridge4]

@Wentworthonline

Well it is definitely the season for our stick insects. Four nymphs is one week! 👶 👶 👶 👶
The brown/black ovals with little gold tops are more eggs. The nymph that hatched last Monday was 15mm but has since grown to 25mm.

[Rachel Kerridge @RachelKerridge4]

So true ☹️ 😔 😩
