Marketing & communications in local government, previously higher education. I try to tweet in a professional capacity but mostly fail. I enjoy a good walk.
The first day of #LGConf23 highlighted pressures facing councils, and the amazing councillors and officers that drive them forward.
Do you know someone who could make a difference in their community? Encourage them to #BeACouncillor - if you're not sure of the process, find out more about it on our website: https://t.co/UJU2DugWVd
Last week I accidentally left my favourite bookmark in a book I returned to @warkslibraries. Thank you to the lovely library staff who found it and saved it for me 🙏 I explained to them that the artist is now 18 and was currently on a boys’ holiday trying to destroy his liver.
Hi, I'm Alice! I'm a young person on work experience with Marketing and Communications this week at WCC, and I'm taking over the Child Friendly social media for the day. I'll be sharing posts about young people's experiences and how they can get their voices heard!

If there are local elections where you live, please vote today. Not only is it a privilege to have a voice when so many people don’t, but your vote makes a difference to so many local services that really matter. #LocalElections2023
This fair weather cyclist chose a good day to return to two-wheel commuting. Priory Park was looking beautiful and the school holiday means the roads were thankfully quiet.
@nickhillman@AdmiralUK Mine (also from @AdmiralUK) went up by 66%. Again, no changes to the policy. They said there was nothing they could do about it. So I found another policy elsewhere that was 25% cheaper than last year. Go figure.
@GillFrigerio Well what did your Secret Santa gift say? If I remember rightly, it said you were on the Really Shouty and Uncommonly Kind register. Well done you.
@Hallam_VC I'm sorry to hear this. Our paths crossed many years ago but your vision and passion for the university stayed with me. And yes, influenced my son's UCAS choices this year - he got an offer yesterday to start at Hallam this autumn. Best wishes for your future.
Thank you @fifiglover @janegarvey1 for the discussion with @andreafelliott last year - as a result, I devoured Invisible Child over Christmas. It's a mind-blowing, wonderful insight into poverty, institutional racism and how public services can get things so wrong.
I’m gradually walking the Centenary Way, established by @Warwickshire_CC in 1989 to celebrate its 100th anniversary. Yesterday was stage 4, from Combe Abbey to Stoneleigh. Grateful for the blue skies and the discovery of the lovely Lavender Farm and Cafe in Bubbenhall en route.
@tracyplayle All of the above, most of which contributes to the bland brief. Not helped by insufficient time spent with their target market, so they have little idea of what really makes them distinctive.
Working in local government has made me realise the difference councillors can have both on policy and the people in their local communities. This role really matters.
Thinking about volunteering in your local community, but don’t know where to start? Councillors make a real difference in their neighbourhood and on wider issues such as climate change 🌍
