The UCP government is willing to gamble with your pension by pulling out of the Canadian Pension Plan.

Albertans have been clear that they do not want a provincial pension plan. Instead, Danielle Smith’s plan is to spend more of our money on advertising to sell Albertans something we do not want.

Albertans don't trust the UCP government to manage their pensions. We need to tell them that loud and clear.

Signs are limited, so order yours now before we run out!

The Keystone pipeline has had regulatory approval on the Canadian side since 2010. The regulatory uncertainty came from the US, not from Canada, on this line. Come on, Premier, even you know this.

[Jason Kenney 🇨🇦🇺🇦🇮🇱 @jkenney]

💯

Separatists are *shocked* by my suggestion that Canada could revoke Canadian citizenship from Albertans following a unilateral declaration of independence (UDI.)

They believe that Alberta would get to determine how Canada would respond to a UDI, and that Albertans would have a right to hold and transmit Canadian citizenship to the nth generation.

But at the same time, they would not grant Alberta citizenship to the ~50% or Albertans born outside the province, i.e. people who are Albertans by choice, not chance.

So half the Alberta population (myself included) would be ineligible for Alberta citizenship, but the separatists would get to keep their Canadian passport to travel and work in the rest of Canada visa-free.

How crazy is that?

[Sean Amato @JSJamato]

Not that it really matters, but since there’s debate in the replies…

The separatists and the pro-Canada/anti-UCP folks both had midday rallies recently. I was at both.

The Fight Back one today was at least 10 times the size. #ableg #cdnpoli

[Rachel Notley @RachelNotley]

We need to fight against the separatist agenda and the UCP that is dedicated to forcing it on Albertans.

[Naheed Nenshi @nenshi]

Danielle Smith’s separatist referendum puts us all at risk, but we cannot let our fears and anxieties take hold. We will not stand by and let the extremists who run the Premier also run this province.

We’re going to stand up and fight.
For our home.
For Alberta. For Canada.

And with your help, we WILL win.

All Albertans should be concerned about these changes and push back against this anti-democratic bill.

Raj Pannu was an elegant intelligent and kind person who exemplified a rarely seen political grace. He never wavered in his commitment to the Alberta NDP and the principles of social democracy. While ensuring concrete wins for vulnerable Albertans and building solidarity with working people he retained an authentic humility loved by so many. You can rest in peace Raj,
knowing that you’ve left thousands in your wake who will do our part to Raj against the machine. ✊️🧡

@CBCradiotara @CBCEdmonton Interesting interview this am with UCP minister misinformation. I urge you to interview @JanisIrwin who has been unpacking the real numbers revealing the true consequences of UCP attacks on vulnerable Albertans who are houseless.

Nearly 40,000 people have taken our survey on protecting pensions already.

Let's get over that mark before 2023 ends!

Take a listen to @NagwanYYC (Alberta NDP Energy Shadow Minister). UCP plan to mine the Rockies is wrong and we have to fight back..

[Nagwan Al-Guneid @NagwanYYC]

Albertans just received a giant lump of coal before Christmas from the UCP government.

Alberta's two energy ministers announced today that they want to increase coal mining in Alberta.

This announcement gives us no economic benefit and a lot of environmental risk, a lot of pollution, a lot of challenges for our watershed, a lot of risks to our agricultural industry, and it just shows once again the UCP is a political movement that has no interest in actually being a government.

Please email the premier, the two energy ministers, and copy my office at [email protected] #ableg

Better is possible… but not with this UCP government 👇

A secret report shows no costs and no real analysis. This is how Danielle Smith runs her government. Welcome to the Danielle/Dreeshen disaster. #ReleaseTheReport

This was one heck of a parting gift… but I’m pretty sure taxpayers weren’t asked to sign the goodbye card 😏

I write with mixed feelings to announce that today I will be sending a letter to the Speaker of the Alberta Legislative Assembly, advising of my intent to resign my position as the MLA for Edmonton Strathcona, effective December 30, 2024.

It was last January this year when I announced I would be stepping down as leader of Alberta’s NDP. I was excited and proud to see our membership swell to over 80,000 members as four worthy contestants sought their votes in June of this year.

Naheed Nenshi’s selection represents a tremendous opportunity for all Albertans seeking practical solutions to the affordability crisis, along with a genuine commitment to fixing our healthcare so that all Albertans can get the support they need no matter where they live or how much they earn.

It has been an indescribable honour to represent the people of my neighbourhood and community for almost 17 years. Edmonton Strathcona is a diverse constituency, defined by an unparalleled level of connection between its residents that plays out every day at festivals, independent small businesses of all types, theatres, schools, playgrounds, parks, trails, and community leagues.

To all of my constituents, thank you for putting your trust in me over these many years, and thank you for your support, advice and engagement along the way. To the staff and volunteers who worked beside me to make life better for Albertans, your work contributed to doing just that, in so many ways. To my fellow caucus members, you’re a dedicated, caring and fun team. I’m going to miss you, but mostly I can’t wait for you to form government so you can get to work building a better future for all Albertans.

Finally, to my family, thank you again for supporting it all.

See you on the trails!

[Rachel Notley @RachelNotley]

After almost 17 years in #ableg, today I watched as this legislature sunk to its lowest point ever. The UCP voted to breach the Charter and fundamental human rights of transgender young people and their families, to have equal access to healthcare. Alberta is the only province to act with this much callous cruelty. Trans Rights are human rights and the UCP cares nothing for either.

[Rachel Notley @RachelNotley]

The votes have been counted and we have an Art From the Unknown People’s Choice winner!
I’m pleased to introduce Karlie Marrazzo, a photographer and mini collage artist. She rescues Polaroid frames from imperfect photographs and, within the confines of the small frame, creates existential mini collages that contemplate human emotion and our place in the Universe.

John Horgan spent most of his adult life devoted to public service. His was a down to earth and reliable voice in support of BC’s working people - always focused on standing up for regular folks. It was these values and a likeable authenticity that earned him the top job in BC, making him the first NDP premier to be elected to two terms in office in BC. Of course we had a couple of disagreements, but John was always determined to do what he believed to be the very best for the people of British Columbia. He went on to lead his province through multiple unprecedented emergencies with a steady hand. BC has lost a very important person today.
My thoughts go out to his family, his friends, and his colleagues.

[Rachel Notley @RachelNotley]

This kind of flip flop reveals bad judgement at best: deciding to attack the very kids she once cried about, for her own political interest, reveals profound immorality.
