I have very exciting news that we have been working on for a long time and it’s now official. Protect a Volunteer now has a Memorandum of Cooperation and Interaction with the Foreign Recruitment Center of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. For OPSEC purposes I am not sharing the exact details of the agreement. However we are looking forward to working on the shared goals of helping more foreigners come to assist Ukraine’s fight and provide them with appropriate support once they arrive.
Ukraine’s defense of its own territory is remarkable; so are the contribution of foreign volunteers who fight with them. Integrating thousands of volunteers coming from all around the world has not been easy. It understandably took time for Ukraine to formalize a system to be able to expand their recruitment of foreigners as well as the opportunities they have in Ukraine. Now that it is formalized under a central command we are looking forward to working together.
We will have a lot of updates soon regarding this partnership.
@MikeASperrazza Let me ask you a question Mike- if I’m telling you I smoked crack, why in the world would I lie about snorting it? There’s plenty of pictures of me smoking crack doing all sorts of stupid things, with all sorts of people and rarely with clothes on. But not snorting cocaine.
I don't doubt that Platner has PTSD. I would default-assume a PTSD diagnosis for any person who has been to war. But also, none of his behaviors that people attribute to "PTSD" are actually PTSD-related. PTSD correlates with dysregulation, not just saying offensive things.
I think this is a huge problem because a ton of progressives have been taught to follow their empathy with no limits. That's a really good thing on a micro scale but on macro you have a limit to who you can help and what you prioritize. Governments have to tell people no. They have to make decisions with limited budgets. And at some point, some person's rights/wants/needs will conflict with another.
To a lot of people, clearly it feels like voting for Graham Platner weakens Trumpism. Maybe it does for two years.
But long-term, slopulist extremists feed off of each other.
@magi_jay I've seen people use PTSD as an excuse for men violently beating women. It's like a get out of jail free card for terrible behavior sometimes.
This used to be my office. From this building my colleagues and I created the first ever national suicide prevention hotline in Ukraine's history, @LifelineUkraine.
We stopped working from here on 24/2/22.
Last night russia blew it up in their latest terrorist attack on #Kyiv.
The chief of cardiac surgery at the Jewish General Hospital has tendered his resignation and plans to move to Atlanta in September, citing rising antisemitism in Montreal and worsening problems with the province’s health-care system. https://t.co/1wtSJBpVWT
I genuinely need to know why leftists didn't think it was absolutely vital to elect Harris in 2024 to fight fascism, but somehow now think the only way to defeat fascism is to elect a toxic white dude for a Maine senate seat.
Dnipro, first responders pulling a woman from under the rubble after this night's attack.
This is a nightmare scenario every Ukrainian is going to bed with every night: you or your loved ones crushed to death, because your neighbor is a psychotic murderer.
🕯️ Among those killed in the Russian strike on Dnipro was rescue worker Major Anton Yarmolenko, deputy chief of a fire and rescue unit, who was on his way to respond to an emergency call.
I bet these straight dudes defending that guy using privileged information to hit on a woman would change their tune if a gay guy with access to their phone number because of his job decided to text them to ask them out.
