It's rare we get to say this, but we've found an otterly adorable law textbook! Or, we received this book today and now we can't stop thinking about it, a thread 🧵
@kirby_pj Which bit is confusing? Are you suggesting a woman should birth an unwanted (possibly unexpected at its time) baby? Show me what men do of a remotely similar nature and I’ll listen.
@kirby_pj But your dismay avoids the issue, as does language of “killed”. Do you actually believe this woman wanted to abort that late? Do you have any experience to validate your view? Why not just say “It’s tragic and I know that that I don’t know.”
@RebeccaBuxton@ucu I couldn’t agree more. All of this is eroding confidence in my union. I suspect I will lose this weekend to last minute prep just like I did before the unagreed “pause” last month.
@DrJoGrady I have childcare to think about and when you pulled the rug to “pause” it really screwed me over. Can you confirm we are on strike next week Mar 20-22?
Dr R. Pimm-Smith's (@RachelPimm) research commented on in @TimesLaw, following publication of her research results in Child and Family Law Quarterly (‘A new-born of respectable class would have weighed more’: Class, gender and child neglect in Late-Nineteenth Century England)!
My employer has updated their information in advance of a huge round of strikes from @leedsucu and @UoLUnison
Here's what they aren't saying
1) They note that negotiations are being handled by UCEA. They don't, however, note what they have asked UCEA to do
Last night in Exeter Liz Truss was cheered by Tory Party members for "vowing to get rid of solar farms" (says Sky News). So, in an energy crisis a contender for PM promises to wipe out 4% of the UK's electricity production... and is cheered?
Why have you misrepresented what I said, @BBCNWT ? I was asked if I supported the @RMTunion strikes (YES), why (CoL, safety, right2strike) but you decided to only include me saying I was affected by the strikes. This is not OK and I would never have participated on those terms.
Johnson (attempting some absurd Churchillian delivery) “with iron determination we saw off Brenda Hale”. Baroness Hale: a member of our independent Supreme Court judiciary. I have no words.
