"Though the western-colonial orientation to power is unhealthy, power in itself is not inherently “bad.” In fact, we need to understand and utilize power in a healthy way in order to transform our communities and our world." - @TransitionUS

Worrying doesn't mean there's something wrong with you. It means something you value is at risk.
Anxiety is a sign that you care.
We worry about the people we love, the performances that matter to us, and the principles—freedom, security, health, democracy—that we hold dear.
💡9 in 10 children w/ disabilities in LMICS are excluded from formal education. The majority are girls. As countries look to make new commitments to achieve #SDG4 & #SDG5, it is imperative that they mainstream #gender equality & #inclusion in education.

By popular demand, I present the planning and reflection canvas to support use of the Systemic Design Practice Wheel! Now available to download free from my website, which also has a short guide to using this approach to co-creation and dialogue for systemic change.
The Mental Health Patterns Library is a free, open-source platform for anyone who's involved in delivering mental health products and services. It’s a place to share best practice and first-hand experience, powered by @wearesnook and @barnardos and supported by @publicpolicylab.
I had a dream last night about a new company #culture offering, where employers would offer employees a month off for "unlearning" so that they could forget #culturalnorms and return to work with a new mindset and problem solving approach.
I think there's something in it.
I'm mentoring and coaching introverted designers, introverted design leaders and design leaders who manage introverts.
Why? cos' it's hard being an introverted designer in a world that desires extroverts.

"You were at one company for nearly 14 years?!?!"
Yes, I'd say. Here's why:
1) I loved the people
2) I was continuously challenged and learning
3) The mission spoke to me
4) I felt deep loyalty
But there was another big reason that was hard for me to admit then...

@EmRoseBaz @saranramos@heather_madden1 thank you both. To build on this I was inspired by @holstee’s article on writing your eulogy: https://t.co/XaRWxmOBjp

Grief.
Uncomfortable by default.
How do we welcome grief as a leader?
How do we show up when grieving?
I’m honoured for Sara Ramos to invite me to share my story.

Absolutely loved the talk by @rachelsliu - what is ‘normal’ or ‘right’ changes depending on where you are/who you are in this world. Seems obvious but easy to forget. #designresearch@researchthing
Work in progress @researchthing#sketchnotes from Inclusive User Research: Focus in Ethnicities & Geographies feat @Solenevdw & @rachelsliu.
So much important learnings and experiences were shared thus busy sketchnote! 🙂
Big thanks to @sunnysides and @swethas for organising!
@Fabien_UX@researchthing@pearson Not at all. There’s a book on Culture Map to show the relative scale of how trust is built differently across cultures (task-based trust to relationship-based trust). The example I gave might be coming from a more UK-centric lens.
