Words fail me. Practically all my life, I thought we were the good guys.
The reaction by the West to the ICJ ruling is astonishing. Zero comments from the political establishment, misrepresentation of the ruling by the media & collective retribution by starving the Palestinians.
Norway & Ireland will not withdraw aid.
Switzerland will continue to provide aid until allegations against 12 former staff are proven.

“I saw In Auschwitz that if a dominant group wants to dehumanise others, as the Nazis dehumanise me, the dominant group must first dehumanise themselves, the same holds nowadays for Israel.
I am appalled about how hateful, how dehumanised, that they do not see any human aspect in any Palestinian anymore.
The Zionists have no right whatsoever to use the Holocaust for any purpose, they have given up everything which has to do with humanity and with empathy”

A note on Australia’s position and exposure to legal action.
This is the first genocide being conducted daily in world view.
We will see parallel and subsequent legal action related to the genoside, outside this @CIJ_ICJ case (and another coming up in the same court).
One has started - the case in the US against Biden, Blinken and Austen by the Centre for Constitutional Rights, for enabling genocide.
Action is highly likely to be taken against Netanyahu and Herzog for incitement to genocide sooner rather than later.
It may perhaps be sobering for Ministers - of nations other than the US and Israel - responsible for continuing to assist Israel in genocide, either by the supply of arms or intelligence or by ensuring the starvation of the Palestinian people is achieved by cutting off aid, to realise they can be and in this case are quite likely to be prosecuted personally under international law.
The UK and Australia lead the charge here and I hope @SenatorWong@RichardMarlesMP and @AlboMP are getting legal advice on this score.

This is an extraordinarily detailed accusation of jen-oside, written by the South African government, against the government of Israel.
I hope you'll take the time to read it.
"In the end, the “cost of living” isn’t about the prices on grocery shelves, it’s about the distribution of income. In Australia, income has shifted from wages to profits and from low- and middle-income earners to those in the top 10% of the income scale and, even more, to the handful of “rich listers” whose growing wealth has outstripped that of ordinary Australians many times over." - John Quiggin

Australia has one of the most inequitable schooling systems in the world.
If we want all children to have the same opportunities for success, governments must ensure that public schools are fully funded to cater to the needs of every student. #auspol@JasonClareMP@AlboMP
As you look at your post Christmas credit card balance and wonder how you’re going to fare next year, particularly noting the current cost-of-living crisis, I thought I’d share a round-up of senior officials’ circumstances as they move into 2024. #auspol
