I can’t stop thinking about this young man.
I can’t imagine how his parents, teammates and community feel. Please continue to lift them up in prayer.🙏
Sudden neurological emergencies in young people can happen without warning. Know these red-flag signs act FAST:
• Sudden severe vomiting (especially with no stomach bug symptoms)
• Severe headache
• Confusion, drowsiness, or personality change
• Vision changes, weakness, or seizures
• Neck stiffness + fever (possible meningitis sign)
If something feels “off” after a game, practice, or normal day don’t wait. Go to the ER. Time matters in brain bleeds, strokes, infections, or swelling.
Maddox’s story reminds us how precious and fragile life is. Hug your kids, pray for his family, and live with gratitude.
What a memorable night in Shadyside last night getting to see Bob Montgomery again.
Those with him were many who played roles in saving his life December 12th after he suffered a cardiac event and collapsed on the floor there while officiating a game.

This past Friday in a Boys Basketball matchup between Caldwell and Shadyside, longtime OVAC Basketball official Bob Montgomery suffered a heart attack while working the game. Thanks to the swift action of a team of people, Bob was able to be revived and his life was saved.
Bob fell during competition into a player, who was able to lay him down to assess the situation. The other officials for the game, Dasyn Hores and EJ Schodzinski, were able to immediately start chest compressions while two nurses in attendance were able to use the on-site AED to revive him. Bob was then taken by ambulance to WVU Medicine and then was transported to Ruby Memorial Hospital in Morgantown.
The OVAC community wishes Bob a safe recovery from this scary situation and our community is thankful and gracious for those who stepped in and acted quickly to save Bob’s life.
