Dear insect people...cleaning up a blown down willow tree, came across this. What am I looking at?

It's amazing to see nature at work. A willow I had nicknamed "the widow maker" (no widows actually made) has finally met it's demise, as predicted. Also, waking up to the sound of a tree cracking in half is fairly frightening
