Now is the time to act, @SecDebHaaland and @POTUS. You have the power to stop the Willow project and fossil fuel expansion. Approving the Willow project will be a giant step back for our climate, and I urge you to stop it before it's too late. #StopWillow
Thank you so much to everyone who came to the #POEcap! Special thanks to my #ENVIR492 cohort, my host organization @NNRG, and my faculty advisor @UW_SEFS!
5/6 By involving #Indigenous people in future #management decisions we can both improve forest #adaptation and #resilience to climate change and enhance tribal wellbeing and collective continuance. #POEcap
4/6 In order to achieve collaborative management, I found that this nesting model shows how we can build upon these four themes to enhance forest and tribal wellbeing in a context of climate change. #POEcap
3/6 In addition to a literature review, I interviewed #forestry experts to learn about #Indigenous forest management. I learned that Indigenous and ecological forestry practices have many goals and outcomes in common, but that their methods differ. #POEcap
2/6 My internship with @NNRG focused on using ecological forestry to make #PNW forests resilient to #ClimateChange, but I wanted to look at how a combination of #Western science and #Indigenous knowledge could improve forestry practices. #POEcap
1/6 I became interested in #Indigenous knowledge after taking @JoyceLeCompte class in @uwpoe. This fall I had the opportunity to visit the Yakama Nation and learn from tribal elders about the use of Traditional Knowledge in resource management. #POEcap
