Our Drs Sacoransky & Adams with Y. Chauhan performed a #meta-analysis of 23 studies evaluating #AI for #CT / #MRI protocoling across 1.19M requisitions. Fine-tuned BERT models led performance (BioBERT 93%), while LLMs showed strong future potential. #radiology #radresearch

Recent presentation at ICAM with #medstudent T Iftikhar, #radres N Mistry & Dr Adams. Analyzed >7,000 #medstudent evals—found weak links between behaviour & actionable advice. Built an #AI model for real-time feedback; phase 2 underway.

2026 CAR ASM is on! #medstudent O Munir (w Dr Leswick) present a scoping review of social media for #radiology residency programs. 18 studies; X was previously dominant; IG use increasing. Programs use accounts for multiple reasons; applicants often use for program research.

2026 CAR ASM is on! Dr Perlau is presenting her PQI project (w Dr Leswick) on reporting of #gallbladder #polyps on #ultrasound.  268 studies. Post-intervention (macro & tech sheet incl guidelines), appropriateness of follow-up recommendations improved from 28% to 80%. #radiology

The CAR 2026 ASM starts today! Drs. Sanayei & Moulton presented a great educational exhibit on spontaneous intracranial hypotension & CSF Leaks. Reviews diagnostic criteria on brain imaging, identification of 3 types of spinal CSF, & treatment options. #radiology #neuroradiology

CAR ASM starts tomorrow! Drs. S Fouladirad & H Obaid are presenting a project on pre-MRI screening for periorbital foreign bodies. Of 100 patients receiving screening XR, 3% positive rate, but 56% of XRs were not indicated by institutional protocol. Intervention pending. #mri

Mistakes were made. A misquote of a 2022 CARJ article by Drs Leswick, Yang, & Rashidi led to a letter to the editor including a bit of a treasure hunt to find the intended reference and how USMLE scores relate to mistakes/misrepresentations on residency applications. #MedEd

Our Dr Neel Mistry was recently interviewed by the CAR about his paper on #RADres call. Neel expressed his pleasure about being part of the discussion on national call & ways to improve it as well as the surreal feeling of having his paper published in the CARJ. #radiology #meded

Are pelvic fractures post hip replacement common? Study by Dr Obaid & #orthopedic #surgery colleagues found pelvic fractures on #CT in 36% of patients after #arthroplasty w cementless acetabular component. No correlation between clinical risk factors or outcome and pelvic #s.

#TBT to a 1990 CARJ article by Dr L Friedman & ortho on wrist #CT. Careful positioning for multiple paracoronal imaging planes to make these lovely pictures for improved diagnosis of radial & carpal fractures. The things we had to do before isotropic multidetector row CT.

Recent CARJ paper including our #Radres Dr Mistry assessed #radiology #resident call amongst 112 residents across Canada. Unfortunately, 62% rated call as unmanageable, almost half did not sleep on call and almost half rated call as unsatisfactory. #FOAMrad #research #meded
