I tweet disaster information and safety tips for all. I’d rather be in the forest. Lover of truly wild things. Not stoked on our rapidly changing world.
@VladTheInflator We had to leave our hometown because we couldn’t afford to dream there. My Mom owns rentals in Santa Cruz, California. Before we left I helped her show a 3 bed that was on the market and would have worked for my family but was out of our budget as a family making ~150k/year.

@VladTheInflator Reality Check: Hard working family of 4 here. We live in a fifth wheel RV. I work part-time, went back to school and am a “stay at home Mom”. My husband makes a good living for our area and works 12-14 hour days 5 days a week.

@rtdtampabay@iamRambo@PopBase I agree 100% with supply and demand being the leading factor. The lock in effect from pandemic era interest rates is real as well. We have friends who bought starters pre pandemic, refied during the pandemic and cannot afford sell and buy in the market they own in.
@rtdtampabay@iamRambo@PopBase We’ve walked away from the dream of moving home as a $500 - 600k house in 2019 is not $1 - 1.5 million. If we do decide to go the RV park route we will choose a location that makes sense from a business perspective w/ the hope to one day buy a little piece of land w/ modest home.
@rtdtampabay@iamRambo@PopBase I shy away from less than 20% down as I worked in the insurance industry for most of my 20s. Many buyers don’t realize the cost of insurance and property taxes being escrowed in. We’ve definitely bootstrapped our way to financial security but need to figure out our next move.
@rtdtampabay@iamRambo@PopBase Thank you. Another idea we’ve been tossing around is purchasing an RV park as a business and income producing property. Seems less risky than a single rental or duplex. I think a lot of my generation who where almost to 20% down pre 2020 are still feeling the whiplash.
@rtdtampabay@iamRambo@PopBase Now, we’re getting even more creative realizing that if we want to eventually own the small piece of land with 1,200 sq ft home we want we will need to buy a home not to live in but to rent to someone else as a way to build equity. What advice do you have for a family like mine?
@rtdtampabay@iamRambo@PopBase We are financially disciplined and creative. We save over half of our take home pay. We would jump on a starter home if mobility and moving up the ladder worked out on paper but it doesn’t. This isn’t me whining. It’s the reality we’re living in. 7/8
@carlson253421@SenRandPaul@nicksortor Blue states can have republican senators. It’s worth figuring out what district you’re in and who your senator is if you don’t know. I live in Oregon and my senator is republican. It’s worth sending an email regardless of party lines if you believe in the cause.
@US_Stormwatch High 50’s here in NE Oregon. Irises are popping up and the trees and roses are putting off shoots like it’s spring. Today I gave up and weeded the garden.
@AdrianneCurry I’m in northeastern Oregon. Irises are sprouting. Trees and roses are sending off shoots and berries are budding. This is NOT a normal winter.
@AirAssets Is there a way to tell what each vessel is without individually looking them up? I’d like to see which are cargo ships vs which are military and who they’re flagged by. I’d love to know if there’s a site like vessel finder that better tracks naval movement.
